Well this is what I had to say right after I saw it:
"I just got back from seeing this movie and was very disappointed. I was not biased, and kept an open mind, but man, I just could not like this movie. It was visually unique and so forth, but the overall feel of the movie plus the strange action scenes just didn't do it for me. It was just a screwed up film IMO..."
It was very faithful to the graphic novels however, which I do respect.
I know I'll get flamed for that opinion because virtually everyone here worships the movie, but I can't help it... I'll try to elaborate a little more...
1) I felt as though the three separate storylines kind of made me lose any sense of one strong plot.
2) Personally, I just didn't like the over-the-top gore and action sequences. It was a little too unrealistic for me.
3) Even though I liked Marv's story the best... I thought it was kind of dumb how he wanted revenge so bad for some hooker he had a one night stand with...
4) I expected too much out of it. And I also expected something different before I went to see it, because I had no previous knowledge about it. That was my fault though...
Those were the main reasons I didn't like the film. I'm not saying its a bad movie or that any of you shouldn't like it, but I just didn't.
i really liked the over dramaticism. The over-the-top violence, the exaggerated emotion. I think it had a REAL comic book feel. I know something like this wouldn;t work at all for spider-man or x-men or even batman, but for this movie, it was just interesting to watch. ALba, of course, was looking sexc as ever. The three stories were a bit hard on developing a solid story, but i liked it. You could see the underlying link btw the stories. But i can see how ppl may not like it, i know some ppl in the cinema i watched it in, walked out. Too much for them i guess...
Yeah Sin City was amazing! In my opinion it's the best and most accurate comic-to-film ever.
i noticed there is'nt even a forum for Sin City here and i looked around everywere for a good Sin City Message Board and i could'nt find any. So i made one. Just a couple of days ago.

Personally Sin City is without a doubt one of the best movies of all time, the overall noir feel and unique style used in this film was very appealing. Personally had you read the graphic novels you would have known that the majorty of the movie was going to be unrealistic but in that sense makes the movie even more appealing. The novels and the film coinside with one another almost exactly, each of them are grimy, dirty, and gritty down to the bone and anyone who is a true fan would understand that.

Would someone explain to me the importance of the opening scene? I have tried to piece it together, as the "Salesman" guy was in the opening and end, but can not place him in the "body" of the movie.
Does it have some profound meaning I just don't get? And if so, would someone explain it to me, Please...
He is an assassin. The beginning uses that to simply astablish that he is an assassin and that anything can happen in Sin City. This also help you realize what is happening to the chick at the end who betrayed everybody else.
