Best Deal

I don't know how many people in here are in the business of re-selling your comics, or buying comics online at sites like ebay. Anyway, the point of this thread is to share the deals you've gotten in the trade, purchase, and selling of comic books.

Maybe you've sold a really cheap comic to an idiot friend for a high price. Maybe you've bought an ultra-rare comic for a low price.

I recently bought a lot of 57 Authority comics, including all of Volume 1 and 2, for $44. Before that, I purchased the Sentry mini-series plus the rough cut first issue for $8. (Both through eBay.)

So... share your deals!

Meh, I buy most of mine new at my comic shop....not too many great deals, though I once bought about 30 He-Man comics for about $10.

I have 2 local-ish comic shops, one is part of a large chain of stores, the other is a small store run by this weird guy.

One day I couldn't find what i was looking for in the chain store, so I went to the weird guy's shop.... I found the issue I was looking for along with a few other new titles and quite a few back issues I had been keeping an eye out for. I had totalled up the price tags in my head, so I knew it would cost me around £30 ..... which I was prepared to spend.

The weird guy though, while sitting in his chair and giggling, had somehow forgotten how to use his own cash register..... he was completely stoned out of his mind..... I got the lot for less than £10 (as he couldn't total it up to save himself) and then he noticed I was buying a couple of Avengers back issues and just decided to throw another ten or so back issues, which were just sitting on his desk waiting to be sorted, into my stash and didn't charge me any extra for them.

That was my best ever "deal" by far.

big grin

I got every issue of the Green Lantern:Rebirth storyline, along with all variants for the issues that had them, most of them being 1st print with some variants being 2nd print for about $10.

i found this great little comic shop in dublin that does tons of older comics...

got 3 issues of flash (the last run before IC) for €3.50 (about $4.50) a pop... wasnt bad, given how excellent the comics were... i'll be getting more as soon as possible...

got x-men #30 (the scott and jean wedding issue) for €5...

got astonishing x-men 9-12 for a euro a piece (about $1.25)

Used to always find people selling their old comic collections at the various weekend markets around Sydney. I found some freaking great comics too. I remember getting Larry Hama's entire run on Wolverine for 50c an issue. Don't find as many people selling comics at the markets these days though.

There's a cool bookshop up the road where they have heaps of old comics, usually for about a dollar each. Managed to get the Atlantis Chronicles for $2 each.

I find when i buy from ebay shipping costs usually take away the "best deal" aspect.
