Both Max Cady and John Ryder are downright pyschopaths to the max. Max was a brutal rapist before being sent to prison and even more brutal when being released. He was going to make his lawyer pay no matter what.
John Ryder is like a phantom(Hauer's words) that came out of nowhere laying destruction in his wake.
The Scenerio would be Max is driving down a dark road cigar in his mouth plotting revenge against his former lawyer. He see's a dark figure along the road with his thumb out hitching for a ride. Lets just say Cady stops and John Ryder gets in.
What do you guys think will happen from here? Max can take punishment but Ryder can ice people like me stepping on cochroaches. So what happens?

Ryder easily. Cady, while terrifying, was still presented as being human. Ryder was doing utterly supernatural shit such as butchering that entire family with a switchblade, sneaking the finger into Jim's food, slaughtering an entire precinct while Jim was asleep, etc.
