American standard of living continues to fall.

Median wages hit a new low: $27,000.

"Enjoy _____ while it lasts" is an extremely common metaphor for "you have ____ now, but that's going to change soon, so enjoy it since it's a luxery you'll soon have to live without", essentially.

So, I'm not really sure why you take that as a statement of ill will.
