Corona Vax mandate. Good or bad idea?

Just like in the title, what do guys you think?

If you want to specify what kind of mandate you see as plausible, or if you want to elaborate on why you think it is a bad idea, put in in yout post.

Thinks like Yellow Fever for travel have always required vaccination cards. Nothing new.

Bingo, Whirls. Vaccination mandates and proof are nothing new around the world.

In regards to the US, despite eThneoLgrRnae's whinging, states have had the authority to mandate vaccinates for well over 100 years.

Jacobson v. Massachusetts, 197 U.S. 11 (1905) - It is within the police power of a State to enact a compulsory vaccination law -snip

Zucht v. King, 260 U.S. 174 (1922) - City ordinances making vaccination a condition to attendance at public or private schools and vesting broad discretion in health authorities to determine when and under what circumstances the requirement shall be enforced are consistent with the Fourteenth Amendment -snip

So, you think it's perfectly fine for places like grocery stores to require you show proof of vaccination to shop there? You're a good little nazi aren't you?

What if all grocery stores did that and people had to start getting all their food by ordering it online? You'd be ok with that too? Ordering online is much more expensive (trust me I know from lots of experience) and not everyone can afford it so many people would either have to suck it up and take that dangerous vaccine (which doesn't even work, btw) or die from starvation.

Having to show proof of vaccination violates peoples' medical privacy and being forced to take a vaccine violates many peoples' religion. But of course like I said you are a nazi so you couldn't care less about peoples' religious and medical rights.

What happened to the left's "my body, my choice!" mantra?

Oh yeah, that only applies to killing defenseless unborn babies in name of "womens' rights". Even then, it doesn't make sense since it is actually someone else's body that is being destroyed, not the woman's herself.

Looney leftist "logic" at it's best.

A "grocery store" would likely be a private business and we all know how you people feel about a private business' rights.

Do you think cake makers should get to refuse somebody because they are gay.

If yes, shut up.

My not taking a vaccine does not in any way affect a vaccinated person's chances of getting the virus.

A vaxxed person has the exact same chances of getting the virus regardless of whether or not he or she is around an unvaxxed person, despite what lying Fauci or the media says.

@eThneoLgrRnae You Trumpers really need to stop listening to Alex Jones and whatever other YT crackpots for your medical science information.

eg The Global Polio Eradication Initiative was able to virtually wipe out Polio because of the widespread use of the Polio vaccine. So yeah, high vaccination rates are kinda important.

edit: It should be noted that Polio has made minor comebacks due to the rise of anti-vax mouthbreathers

So the folks have been fully vaccinated for awhile now, and I just got my first shot.

My sister refuses to get one. She drank the cool aid, keeps sending videos of ranting nurses.

I keep telling her I'm fine, the folks are fine, she should be fine. Even offered to help set up the appointment. Is no good.

At least she works at home, but it will be a worry when things go back to normal and she wants to do things socially.

Seems you were pro vaccine pro gov not that long ago.

It's like they're Tucker Carlson (and similar Rightist) style pieces of shit, they've taken the vaccine themselves because they don't want to get sick and potentially die, but they spend day after day casting doubts on the need to get vaccinated.

Rather shameful, honestly.

Having to show proof of vaccination violates peoples' medical privacy and being forced to take a vaccine violates many peoples' religion. But of course like I said you are a nazi so you couldn't care less about peoples' religious and medical rights.
"Can businesses require proof of vaccination?"

"In a word, yes, says Eric Feldman, professor of law and medical ethics and health policy at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. And, he adds, the idea of businesses requiring vaccination cards to enter or use their services is not much of a controversial topic in the legal community.

“It’s quite clear that restaurants, airlines, cruise ships, your local café, your local university, [or] the school that you may choose to send your child to are all within their legal bounds in asking you to demonstrate that you or your child has been vaccinated,” he says."

"In some ways, it’s along the lines of the commonly seen edict of “no shirt, no shoes, no service,” or even dress codes. Generally, private businesses can decide who they are willing to serve and what kinds of requirements they impose on folks who enter — so long as they are not being discriminatory based on things like race, gender, or religious affiliation.

And requiring vaccine cards, in most cases, is not likely to be seen as discriminatory, though some may view it as more of an imposition than needing to wear shoes or a shirt.

“Sure, a restaurant can say, ‘You’ve got to wear shoes.’ Sure, a restaurant can say, ‘You’ve got to show us you’re vaccinated,’” Feldman says."

"Both the ADA and Civil Rights Act, meanwhile, may provide some protections because they prohibit discrimination — such as refusing service — based on a disability in the case of the ADA, and race, religion, sex, and national origin in the case of the Civil Rights Act.

But, Feldman says, those acts are unlikely to actually prohibit businesses from requiring vaccination cards overall — rather, they require businesses to try to make a “reasonable accommodation” for people who have legitimate medical or religious reasons for not getting vaccinated."

"For example, businesses may be able to require folks who can’t be vaccinated to show a negative COVID-19 test or use personal protective equipment like a mask or face shield when in the establishment. Or, it may mean having a private dining area for folks who are unable to get vaccinated"

Eric Feldman’s expertise is in Japanese law, comparative public health law, torts, and law and society. His books and articles explore the comparative dimensions of rights, public health, dispute resolution, and legal culture, often in the context of urgent policy issues, including the regulation of smoking/vaping, HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, and natural and nuclear disasters.

Feldman has twice been a Fulbright Scholar in Japan and has received grants and fellowships from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the American Bar Association, the National Science Foundation, and the Social Science Research Council, among others. He is the author or editor of books published by Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, and Harvard University"

You'd only be correct if any of the vaccines were 100% effective at stopping infection. None of them are and none of them are claimed to be. 2 unvaccinated people are 361x more likely to get infected from another than 2 vaccinated people. An vaccinated person is 19x more likely to get infected from an unvaccinated person than a vaccinated person.
