So for example, Crystal fires a lightning bolt at them. Jack could.....change the amps/volts/whatever, to a harmless charge. Same with her fire etc. Whatever she shoots, he can negate.
Within the city, he's basically a reality warper. In Tokyo, he told the city to ramp it's electric charge up, and in another city, he told it to change its density, change its gravity etc. He rewrites laws of physics in a city.
Yeah, it’s not the same. It just means she’s capable of either countering shenanigans like Hawksmoor phasing the ground, or just generally wrecking havoc to the city itself. He might counter her energy blasts, but her geo- and ferro- kinesis are still potent counters and attacks.
And Black Bolt could potentially just raze NYC.
A bunch of underrated characters on the field here.
We’ve seen separate occasions of Hawksmoor messing with a city’s gravity and electromagnetic spectrum, sure. And he’s done things like wear a city as a mech. But he hasn’t altered a city’s physics to such a degree so that a pyro/geo/ferro/electro/hydro/cryo/you-name-it kinetic is effectively powerless. He’s a pseudo reality manipulator at best, not Proteus.
He's changed the density of buildings, which imho would negate ferro and geo kinesis, for example. So if Crystal hurls boulders (as an example) he could make them less dense.
I am also curious the extent of his powers - if Crystal makes golems out of the rocks (as an example), could he just tell the rocks to not obey her?
Edit: because this thread needs scans, otherwise it returns to the golden age of 'trust me, bro!' KMC debating...
Jack controlling the density of buildings: (please log in to view the image)
So in that scan - if he tells the buildings/materials around Crystal to ignore her (just as he tells the rivets not to blow), then.....would they not? I assume not, considering in the scan they are ignoring fundamental physical laws, lol.
I mean, I think that he’s increasing/bolstering the physical forces holding the city together, not just waving his hand and rewriting physics entirely. His dialogue is a general talking to troops, not a reality manipulator deciding that two plus two has a new meaning in this city.
In other words, cool feat but it couldn’t scale up to simply ignoring, say, Magneto. It’s also specific to the objects he’s focusing on - he hasn’t introduced an entirely new system of science so… he could resist and counter Crystal (and vice versa) but couldn’t simply render her powerless.
So like I said, I don’t see Hawksmoor crushing the rest of the team while Black Bolt and Jenny fight /shrug
Maybe. But Medusa is too mobile to get trapped, and Crystal can counter Hawksmoor’s attacks, and I guess Lockjaw can save Gorgon. But I don’t mean to ignore the rest of the Authority.
I think maybe Engineer tips the balance. Not sure the Inhumans could counter Hawksmoor and her at the same time. Unless Black Bolt could solo… not sure.
It feels like the Authority is relying a lot on Hawksmoor playing it safe for everybody, while the Inhumans team doesn't have that overreliance on Black Bolt -- though they kind of have to, since BB can just open his mouth and possibly end those that don't leave through Doors beforehand. Apollo [OG not reboots or whatnot] hasn't impressed me terribly, so I wouldn't say he'd be a terrific help/backup in case things go haywire -- Lockjaw I'd say is, funnily enough, stronger and more versatile than him.
I feel Crystal can handle Jenny with abilities to spare. I don't think it'd be a good idea for her to turn into the electricity form against her for one:
And of course - Crystal has a shitload of other things going for her, including blowing people up from inside their bodies, blowing up heads with seismic waves --- and essentially controlling the environment in totality for miles. The latter treads into Hawksmoor territory [where I'd give him the edge], but it's worth noting the range she operates at where she's in multiple enemies' area of powers.
That being said -- she is kind of a glass chin, so she can be KOd. If that happens, it spells trouble for the Inhumans. But, she has good defenses, too:
Meanwhile, Karnak and Midnighter are starting to fight, praying the others don't notice they're on the field. Gorgon stomps his foot and tickles Hawksmoor's balls. Swift gets into a hairy situation with Medusa. But none of them really matter that much.
Not sure who wins -- I think the more straightforward the fight is, I'd favor the Inhumans. The more it gets into tourney style where you can mesh their abilities to their peak play station efficiency, the more it favors the Authority.

Yeah, basically how I see it, although I think Medusa could handle Swift and still be a problem for any of the Authority.. She’s…. gotten a boost in the last decade.
