Don't you just love how dumb "shooters" the clones become in ROTS after order 66?

roll eyes (sarcastic)

so we learn that when you have a big gun that shoots a lot per minute, you can just stand in the middle of the doorway and shoot them all down... the droids miss anyway.

heres the deal though, why would you build a robot that moves slower than a man, is dumber than a man, isn't bullet proof, is annoying, can't shoot straight, and then use it to conquer the republic? A robot with that kind of technology would NEVER miss would be TOTALLY bulletproof, could move faster then men in all terrain, and would be able to analyze a situation and make split second command decisions based on logical loss.

Perhaps because your perfect robot soldier is unrealistic, and on their terms mass-produced droids with a slightly lower ability to aim is preferable to the loss of living soldiers they don't have?

The Separatist tactic is to overwhelm; droid soldiers do best when numbering in the hundreds.

And let's not forget that the clonetroopers were specifically grown with genetic modifications to make them excellent soldiers.

Finally, since Palpatine is actually directing both sides of the war, it makes sense that he would ensure the side he wanted to win would be superior.

.

its not slightly its horribly lower ability to aim. and it makes it less interesting when a few clones can eaisly take down tones of driods with only getting shot twice.

my point is if you ever look at a robot its not going to do something haphazardly by shooting randomly in the vicinity of its target, its going to raise its gun, point at what it MEANS to shoot at, and fire. Our robots, which would be considered cheap or poorly made by their standards can make 99 out of one hundred three point basketball hoops.

the fact that the droids suck at everything should not be a factor here it should be something like "the clones are better at making decisions and they don't have a master controll that can be shut down" or something like that instead of "their combat skills make one of our privates worth a hundred of their droids!"

Rookies
Summary
Hell yeah.

After the Malevolence debacle, the series can still deliver.
Pros
Clones: Finally we get to see more than flashes of squad dynamic. We see clones with personality, interacting with each other, doing more than shooting droids. Finally we get to see something about the Clone WAR beyond clone battles. Amen. Not only that, there is a lot of character showing a cross-section of personalities in the army.

Its all in the name: "Cutup" "Fives" "Heavy" ...this episode continues a great tradition of naming clones after their personality, especially their death. Its a nice touch to the saga and a way to derive a lot of names.

Cody-Kenobi/Alpha(Rex)-Anakin: Troop dynamic, Jedi imprinting. Its great to see that this is being brought up, but why is a headline commander and an ARC doing inspections?

Commando Droids: Its nice to see droids with some skill...but more on them later. Kudos on design too, crossing B1s and B2s. These guys the B3s?

Shinies: Starts to actually address the nature of clone production and how the Republic is already skimping on quality for quantity. Its nice to see this and the abuse of the clones addressed..though Traviss might have an issue with them stealing her term for clone commandos.

Story: This episode finally showed us something we HAVEN'T seen before in the films. It was actually solid. This was more an ambush than "Ambush" was...and a better episode. I guess that makes it 2-3 for the series, which unfortunately isn't a winning record. Especially since it seems like the series is either a home run or a strike-out.

Cons
Commando Droids: What makes me fearful about the series are these guys. In a world where there are new battle droids seemingly every episode, to introduce a NEW type here is...sketchy. Whats worse...if commando droids were so effective, why not an army of them? Filoni's answer? Well, they're too expensive. WOAH bro. No no no. If you have an army of 10 billion droids...what about an army of 1 billion droids that are 10x better and 10x more expensive. Seems like a LOGICAL trade off to me, espeically since the justification for the clone army is that 3 million better soldiers = better chance of victory. Now, Filoni could have pulled a page form Travis and said: "Well, Commando droids are just that, commandos, therefore not suitable for general infantry fighting a war, so they can't be the main component of the force." That is a brilliant and realistic answer to the problem, but one Filoni couldn't tap. Filoni may know STAR WARS, but he still can't seem to figure out CLONE WARS, which makes me nervous.

Tiny Fleet: Grievous is invading KAMNIO with 7 ships? Somethign is fishy here.

Medals: How does one pin medals to armor? Besides, such awards are very out of character with the Star Wars universe, especially when most military uniforms have a simple rank on them. Minor detail...but awkward.

No news is good news: Not much to say here.

What i want to see from here
More clone only episodes about small groups in isolated situations. Seeing these boys in the 501st in a later season would be nice follow up.

Plasteel is magnetic? You would think if such was the case, clone troopers would be sticking to a lot more things...like each other.
