20th Century FoxDuring a panel at the C2E2 comic convention in Chicago, Steve Sansweet, Lucasfilm's Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations, stated that the company has been working on a Star Wars Blu-ray set. "We have been at work for a couple of years working on—I won't call it the Ultimate Set because we keep finding stuff—but, a very full set of all six movies on Blu-ray with lots of extra material", said Sansweet.
Sansweet didn't give a date, but he said " it won't be in the too distant future."
The Digital Bits, quoting industry sources, says that Lucasfilm "tentatively plans the official Blu-ray release to happen in October 2011." Obviously, with the Alien Anthology coming later this year, a 2010 release of Star Wars can be safely ruled out, and considering that A New Hope opened theatrically in May 1977, late 2011 would be a natural choice for a 35th Anniversary Edition Anthology.
Would Lucas talk himself into putting in Luke's Tatooine scenes with Biggs? Or the sandstorm meeting outside the Falcon from ROTJ?
Two scenes that have never been seen. I know it would mean altering the tempo, but it's thirty plus year now - what the hell...

We're finding all kinds of scenes from dailies that have never been seen before. Beyond all of those things that you know about... there are some real treasures.
Oh I agree on that. But it's mot like some scenes cannot be seen. In fact, the scenes with Biggs in the desert aren't that great. The acting is quite poor.
Is anyone gonna pick up the whole set ? or just the OT ? I love the OT more then the PT but i also want all the extres . Its abit like the Alien Quidrilogy if you want all the extres you have to buy the box set which has AR too and bones disk !!
I actually hadn't thought about that. I read the scenes in my Marvel Comic adaptation from 1977, and in the novelization...
I have just been to YouTube to see the Tatooine scenes now! That actress who played Fixer's girlfriend Camie (Koo Stark), was and still is a beauty. More so than Carrie Fisher was.
But I'm talking about seeing them in the film at last, like the Jabba scene finally got in.

I know, but that was never supposed to be seen in the original form; the actor is just a stand in for Jabba. The creature didn't work back in 1976, so Lucas scrapped the scene until 1997.

When I was a little one I always wondered why the story book of Star Wars had Biggs in the desert scene and why it was never in the movie.
Hopefully they include those awful scenes that have that someone's random girl friend who was a porn star in the 1970s, forget her name but she is old now.
What - Koo Stark, whom I just posted about up above?
She made one or two films that had soft core sex; it was enough for the royal family to get Prince Andrew to dump her.

Theres lots of stuff in the books making of etc so if they can put that onto blu ray that would be great . The set will be expensive but fans will buy it
