Nice grain is not bad grain.
However, when they have a good scan it's gonna look smashing. But I'm sure Lucas will color correct it and ruin the whole authentic look.
You are probability spot on there, unfortunately after the 2nd part.

Initiate order steal original film from Lucasfilm.
Operation is a failure, original footage was destroyed!

Lucky, you have the widescreen ones! I have the full screen ones. Sadly eBay > Lucasfilm archives in this instance.

Does anyone here own a PS3 system for playing Blu-rays, rather than buying a player? Are there any real differences?

I wouldn't think so. I hear PS3s are amazing blu ray players that can even play a few games.

*raises hand*
I've never owned a regular Bluray player, but they look perfect on my PS3 and HDTV.

the PS3 is one of the top (if not THE top) bluray players on the market, from what i've heard.

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't jumped and gotten a Blu-ray player yet - even once that format war ended - because I couldn't come up with a really good reason to spend the extra cash. A gaming system is a good excuse; especially if there are good Star Wars games to use on it.

It's not gonna get any lower until the PS4 comes out, like queeq said. It's already just about half the price compared to when it came out...and you get more storage, sleeker design, and it runs better than version 1 PS3's.

And a PS3 only works on a HDTV, right?
I checked one out on the weekend - only seems to have outlets for an HDMI cable for video, optical digital out for audio.
(So you can't take it to a friends place when they don't have a HDTV.)

...no.
PS3 comes with component cables for standard TVs. You have to buy the HDMI cable separate if you want it to look sexy on an HDTV.

Yep, I have a PS3, it works on whichever TV you have. Blue-Ray looks fantastic, and the PS3 games look great too. Obviously, you get the most out of the console though if you have an HDTV. The quality is stunning.
