Hi guys!
I decided to watch the Star Wars saga and see what's all the fuss about. Can anyone recommend me which movie should I watch first? I read the movie from 1977 is actually chapter 4?!? and the movie from 1999 is chapter 1?!?
Explaination and recommendation would be appreciated!

Start with with ep 1 through 6.
There is enough people in this world who have there opinions based on watching 4-6 then 1-3.
Do us a favor and watch it 1-6 and tell us what you think

no, episode 2, clone wars, 3, 4, 5, 6, 1 because only ep 1 ends with no cliffhanger as if it's a prequal to all of them about how Anikin heard about being a jedi.
4 didn't have a cliffhanger either though.

I'm an old school fan who actually saw the original trilogy in the theater as they each came out 77 - 83. I have a radical opinion: newcomers should watch them in chronological order....
It's more tense when you have watched Eps 1-5 in order before the climax of the entire saga.
Agreed. I also think if you watch them in order 1-6, you will see the degradation of the galaxy and of the technology as time passes. We see the "Golden Era" in episodes 1-3, the height of the Republic, the sleek, hi tech ships, and the elaborate uniforms and clothing styles. Then we see what has become of the galaxy since the Empire took over... cold, white stormtroopers, worn out clothing and spaceships, droids with faded and battle scarred skins. I believe the dated special effects of the OT actually helps define the state of the galaxy under the Imperial Reign.

Another advantage: you get the better films at the end.

Yeah, this pretty much wraps up the thread.
