Defeating Kenobi is good enough to put him above Malgus as a swordsman. Dominating Qui-Gon Jinn, one of the best swordsmen ever produced by the Order, beating Anoon Bondara, an amped Darsha Assant, Savage Opress etc.
Being one of the most skilled, deadly and dangerous Sith in the history of the order, as well as one of the most highly trained.
Maul's physicals are at the very least on par with Malgus' as well.
