Hey all. IGN.com has a poll set up right now. The most anticipated movie of 2002. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is beating Star Wars Episode II. The LOTR sites are all sending their patrons to the poll. We need to do the same thing if we want AOTC to be #1. If you go to IGN it will be listed near the bottom of the main page on the right side. Star Wars is listed as simply Episode 2. Get to voting.

I think AOTC should be more anticipated as well, but Peter Jackson was very smart in making Lord of the Rings by making the movie ending of the first very sudden and abrupt with no conclusion yet seen. I am very excited about The Two Towers, but not as much as AOTC, simply because I am more of a Star Wars fan than a Tolkien fan.
Also, look at this; Lucas made the OT 20 years ago, so everyone knows what the prequels will lead up to, it's just a matter of how excited people are about what happens within the 30 years prior to A New Hope. We know the conclusion in this case, so people who aren't fanatics aren't going to be that excited. There is only one thing keeping Episodes II and III way up there in the anticipation record books, the fact that, unlike LOTR, there are no novels where people can gain information from. Sure there are EU novels, but only 1% of Star Wars fans read novels.
In my honest opinion, IGN supports a more fantasy-science fiction based audience than the real world, obviously. The people of IGN obviously think along the lines of what I just posted, therefor in a natural case, they are also screenwolves and never read the books, which is a very sad thing indeed. I would justify that there are tens of millions of Star Wars fans (I've seen many estimations of 50-60 million). Then look at Lord of the Rings...a novel series read by many, but not even looked happily on until the movies came out (by the real world that is), and I would only estimate LOTR fans to be around 15-20 million, which is only a fraction of Star Wars fans. Will Episode II rake in more money than The Two Towers? Yes. Will The Two Towers be an awesome film? Yes.
It's common knowledge that LOTR is not as popular as Star Wars, but they are both awesome film/novel series'
Thank Jackson and Lucas for blessing us with them both.

Hey I was closer to spelling it right than I thought. Visited there a few years ago. Absolutely beautiful place! The treck upthe hill nearly killed me though when I had an asthme attack a few metres from the top!
In the polls of last year, LotR always beat Harry Potter but in the end Potter did far better in it's opening weeks. These polls don't mean anything really.
