DreamWorks is moving forward with The Ring 2, hiring commercials director Noam Murro to helm the second installment of the horror hit, which Naomi Watts will once again topline.
The studio is preparing to start filming The Ring sequel in January, aiming to release the film in November, 2004.
Murro replaces Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl), who directed the first film, which generated $129 million at the domestic box office, and an additional $120 million overseas.
The sequel will bring back Watts and David Dorfman, as well as screenwriter Ehren Kruger. The plot is being kept tightly under wraps at the studio.
Murro caught the attention of DreamWorks executives with a darkly toned "Got Milk?" commercial he directed for the California Milk Processor Board that features a boy who can predict unfortunate future events.

C'mon! this is one of those movies that you don't make a sequel to. moives like casino, pulp fiction, seven, TCM should not have a sequel and shuld be left alone. i am probally jumpin the gun and this might be good, but i am against this sequel.

A sequel could be very good. There's a lot they left open in the original that they can explain here. I'm just a bit distraught that Verbinski is not directing. Hopefully too they have Daveigh Chase to reprise her role as Samara otherwise it could end up a disaster.
the first one is good enough i don't wanna have another, it'll make NO sense!!!!! you already know what it's about in the first one, why make another??!! what'll be the PoInT??!!!!!

No, actually you don't. They have yet to explain Samara's origins and her powers. At this point all we know is the Morgans went overseas to have her. She remains a mystery and The Ring 2 will focus on this, being both a prequel by explaining her origins and a sequel, whereas perhaps we find out what can be done to rectify this curse/entity.
Isnt Hideo Nataka(Did I get that right? Or is that another anime seiyuu? lol) going to be director?
:okes Darkweaver Lord:: Hey, remeber me? Its FallenWhisper, the offical dorkwad of Ringworld... XD.
I think it's a bad idea. There's a lot to be said for not explaining every facet of a movie like The Ring. So, we don't know everything about Samara; a little mystery never hurt anybody.
