My entry...

On the outside, looking in.

I stand alone outside,
On the outside, looking in.
Everyone's connected,
I have no place within.

I can find no solace,
None within myself.
I feel empty and useless,
Left battered, on a shelf.

Cast aside by many,
I cannot find my place,
There is no heart within me,
My ribs, an empty case.

If I should die, would there be grief?
Or would they never care?
Who would be at my graveside?
Will anyone be there?

Is there someone out there,
Who will find the truth within?
Who'll stand with me on the outside?
On the outside, looking in.

now I look at it, more depressy than jealousy, but their is a certain element of envy to it...

Who the hell gave you the right,
To see past what the others see,
To have those eyes, and that sight,
That let you see straight through me?

You strip down all my walls,
What costs others, you get free.
I see you and my brain crawls,
Brings forth bitter-sweet jealousy.

You with the sight that sees souls.
A wink and my friends are yours.
Embraced in those smouldering coals,
Their lives are in your greasy paws.

And then to me turns your gaze,
And I gain your attention.
My wait for you finally pays,
Past jealousy comes my ascension.

But now, after waiting so long,
I realise your friendship burns.
I envy those you do not touch,
and creeping, my jealousy returns.

Sitting there, watching the warren,
The lights of Nottingham glowed gently.
Between here and there, the darkness,
Lined with orange...
Between me and you, the thought of him.

Evil Jealousy.

The root of all evil,
The game of all games.
What it does to people,
Is really quite a shame.

Be it jealously of money,
Or jealousy of fame.
The ending result,
Is usually the same.

It destroys families,
Destroys Human kind.
Bacteria of the brain,
Destroying the mind.

It’s human nature to want,
It’s greed to want more.
Not controlling your desires,
Will have you rotting to the core.

Happiness is found,
With being content with your life.
Wanting what others have,
Can only cause you strife.

i watch the shores they teach me things
the constant rising of the bank
the waves tell me stories that echo throught time
the life tells me that there is hope and beauty in this earth

I weep for this earth and all its beauty in constant jepoardy
i watch the death come in it tells me a song it tells me my time is soon
it whispers solemn promises throughout this mind i once called home
Death told me that when you die that all is frozen but hearts are rich

The deserts tell me of struggle and survival of the creatures of this world
the deserts harshness told me that all things endure hardships and grow
The desert sand has told me of so many people trampled and forgotten due to lack of eyes

the world has told me of so many fortunes that have prespired and lost
the world tells me there is hope for all of us to thrive and live as one
the world has shouted at me that we are earth and we must save ourselves

the planets once told me of there great journeys lost to unseen eyes
they once told me...

For the record, brandino's poem will not be considered as an entry this time around because it is not relevant to the competition theme. Obviously, should an opportunity arise for his poem to be entered in another competition, this will be allowed happy brandino, please take the time to read the rules in order to avoid this happening again.

Well, I hope this is in time.

Untitled

God said covet not, this true was his decree,
But I cannot help how I feel when I see you and he.
It returns to the surface many old memories,
Of us together late at night dancing under trees.

I recall our first, every time you two kiss,
And I despise how he holds you so close in your bliss.
I miss the purest of rest while holding you as we sleep,
But now you awake next to hime and how it makes me weep.

Your love was a lie so I do not know why I long for you this way.
But I feel the cold empty bed at the end of each lonely day.
I burn with rage as I think of you and who you are with now
And how we once held on close and you were once Mein Frau.

But that chapter of my life is closed, and I have washed it clean.
My eyes once more the blue exposed, Instead of that evil green.

I envy the dead,
as they will never envy again.

But is it not ironic that we
envy those who have what we have not,
while the dead devoid of all
will envy none at all...

ENVY AND HATE

I look all around me everyone is happy
and i wonder why that cant be me?
the people around me take their lives for granted
and always overlook me
everyone around me is in love
why cant i have that gift?
and all they do is fight
which makes me wonder if its worth it?
i have no real friends
they have all stabbed me in the back
for reasons i do not know
i have no real life
i might as well be dead
and i watch everybody take what they have for granted
and it fills me with hate
and even more with jealousy
i would give anything to have what they have
life,friends,and love
but it does not happen for me
so i just sit here and slowly die
while everyone around gets to live a real life

1. I have read your thread on the rules and am picking up on what you said. I Would therefore like some constructive critiscism where needed.

2.Just wondering when it'll be judged. Maybe use PM seeing as it has been a week since you posted. Just a thought.

Thanks anyway.

Alright guys, looks like I'm judging this on my own as Sy's left KMC...so here goes.

First off, I'd like to say that everyone wrote very nice poems, and thanks to everyone for entering, but only 3 people could win yes

First place: Trickster

Simply, I loved this poem. How it was set up, the rhyme scheme, and then the content of it...something I very much related to.

Second place: Phoenix

Phoe's entry was a bit of a different take on jealousy/envy, but at the same time very powerful. Also, the rhyme scheme fit the poem very well.

Third place: big gay kirk

Very short, very to the point, and very powerful. It carries a feeling of raw emotion, and only needed a handful of lines to do so.

Congrats to the winners, and thanks to all that entered!!!
