Destroyer's Disintegration Beam

How come people say Destroyer's disintegration beam can disintegrate anything but hhow come not Thor? Is thor too strong fro Destroyer or what?

I'm sure many changes have happened since, but in the issue where Thor fights the Destroyer for the first time, the Destroyer was able to slice Mjolner in two with a beam of "limited force" blazing from his "deadly fingers." What can withstand "limitless" force! And this wasn't even the disintegration beam, said to be the Destroyer's greatest weapon.
