The entire issue is such a waste of money, all that happens is that Doom just shows up and has the FF fight and army of Doombots, then he just kind of shows up and Reed pulls a Luke Skywalker and says "No, its impossible." then Doom is like hey lookie over there its Thors hammer.

Doom was imprisoned in a pocket dimension by Richards. Thor's hammer while traveling around accidentally opened up that dimension and allowed Doom to get free.
