S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

Anybody remember this game?

Remember when it was revealed?

It was revealed around the same time as F.E.A.R, which came out late last year. After intial previews, screenshots and video's, this game mysteriously disappeared. It wasnt shown at E3 or any other major tradeshows. Also, major gaming publications and websites have tried to get some info on this game but without any luck.
Later on, it was rumored over message boards and blogs that this game has been cut and the developing firm repositioned to other companies. Even more mysterious, an programmer of the game sent an e-mail to those publications, (months later) but in garbled english and really bad spelling, making even more rumors about the cut.

But at last, Gamespot finally has some news and actual hands on playtest.

Check the article, http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/s...tml?sid=6152824

It seems to me that this game will be an pretty interesting ride. My take is that its somewhat like GTA (open ended), but a tad more direct. I would love to have the chance to play an FPS where you can explore and take your time and walk towards you objective and not be completly linear like more FPS (nothing wrong with that though). Also, from the previews, the AI is suppose to be really good, and the graphics, while not as good as Crysis, pretty decent, similiar to FEAR and the world you play in is suppose to be really unique and totally random.
Read the preview, because they do a tad bit better of explaining this game.

Maybe it will be good, maybe it will be another Diakanata, but atleast it looks unique and interesting.

Lana: I thought they're was a thread about this already, but I did an search and I couldnt find one. I'm sorry if they're is one.

Yeah, it peaked my interest 3 years ago when it was originally announced, I don't really give a shit anymore. I'm sick of games getting delayed for unreasonable amounts of time, it's starting to become an alarming trend.

True, but if the game is awesome, who cares?

I'm pretty much expect games like FEAR, STALKER and Half Life that require so much detail to be delayed. It doesnt bother me anymore, especially considering they'res always some game to been played.

If the game is going to be a much better experience because of the extra time, I'm all for it.
I actually hate developers who give an release date, and meet that release date, and the game is all buggy to hell like BF2.

I deffently agree, if they can make the game buggless and more of a enjoyment I dont care of I wait longer, now this game sounds very awesome specaily if its a game where I can exsplore details and stuff, much like I hope the new London Hellgate will be like. though it does come to the point where I do get a bit irritade then finaluy dont give a damn about the game, and that happend for Duke Nukem Forever, im pretty sure everyone feels like that about it.

Duke Nukem Forever is still around.

It's going to destroy the gaming world hahahahaha.

But what I find funny is that the game starts getting developed with pretty unique idea's like STALKER so it takes a bit more time than an usual shooter, but because of this delay, the graphics need to be revamped and the engine updated due to the current graphics. It's a never ending cycle.
But I'm pretty sure this game is taking so long because of the engine...I think it's they're own, and that always takes years. It happened with Doom 3 and HL2.

But they'res alot of games that fall in the other category. Most notable, Sin and Diakanta and even Doom 3.

So 6 years later, this game is coming out tomorrow.

Check out this review, http://www.gamerankings.com/itemran...reviewid=767700

To sum it up, unique gameplay elements that actually work like the openendingness, unique atmosphere (from the review, some of the best uses of atmospheric gameplay), totally believable AI, and just some damn good moments that are unforgettable (this is all from the review)

The cons, like any PC game thats ambitious and not developed by guys like ID, or Valve, its buggy, story isnt done very well and the game needed more polish (which is ironic).

But overall, if you love FPS, and love PC games, try it out...and its suppose to be one of the most scariest games to date.

I'm definitly picking it up.

So, bought it and its pretty neat.

It's a cross betweem Dues Ex and actually good shooting. It's realistic as possible....maybe a bit too much. It's pretty cool though.

But I would wait for the ****ing patch. I just dont understand anymore. I have an 3Ghz processor, 512 Radeon x1600 card, and 1 gig of ram and its all over the place...sometimes it looks great, and then it skips and then goes to a black screen and the returns.....and then 10 minutes later it ****ing crashes. **** this.
