Registration for Urban Warriors: a futuristic Dungeons and Dragons by =R-A= Studios

Urban Warriors, simply as the title explains this game is set far-post-modern and mainly opens on the former mining colony called Inolion; after the small moon's minute population discovered rich veins of gold and a new radioactive substance hence named after the town...

As the money poured from the terraformed land, people flocked there to strike their claims upon the rush for wealth.

That was near two-hundred years before...

The wealth still flows but not into the pockets of the workers, the small moon is now a planet-wide city in the architectual style of an ancient ghetto; the streets are ruled and terrorized by an intricate heirachy of corrupt police, organied-crime and the ever-present drug trafficing as not even the far and few true police will dare to do anything...

The story begins as each of the characters find themselves sick and down-right tired of working for minimal wages to supply the rampant drug addictions in their family.
To apply for this game people will need to post a short story on their development into the 'gang' that will become the adventuring group to either get off the planet somehow or to stop the whole process entirely.

Iknow that not everybody likes to write long and dragged-out paragraphs so your applications will not need to be very long but i will ask for at least a thousand words; it's really not that big a deal as i will accept a little less than that but if you have a good reason like your character is a psychic with little memory of their past... something like that...

Ok, the playable races are next; i will give detailed descriptions later in a seperate rules thread but for now i will let you choose what race you want to be:

Terran- Human

Elden- Elf

Half-Elden- Half Human, Half Elf

Delnan- Dwarf

Dreld- Drow-Elf

Ogred- Half Orc

Gnome

Halfling

Katt- (Inspired by all of the anime creatures; half-human, Half-feline or cat... otherwise known as Felis Sapien)

Then the classes will be:

Soldier

Augmented Soldier

Medic

Undercloak

Naturalist

Martial Artist

Performer (This and the Undercloak classes are adept at getting things that aren't theirs, mostly credits...)

Free-fighter

Trained Psychic

Untrained Psychic

Ex-Law Enforcer (good)

The final thing is that everyone starts off with empty pockets, there are no wealthy people unless they're part of the crime rings but as this is all based on either escaping or destroying that...

The naturalist is someone who is attuned with nature and tries to restore the balance that has been annihilated by the constant influx of advanced technology; replacing trees with terra-formic atmosphere-regulators to recycle the air.

They are not Aginst technology but more-or-less out to retore the organic-technological balance without becoming overtly militarialistic.
In basic they respect and cherish life but are far more devoted to the study and preservation than the medic who is a capable fighter whilst having the ability to keep their companions in a fit and healthy state.

Overall they will take hold of a weapon to protect that which they believe in, in order to retain them from becoming pure pacifists; the naturalist is the new-aged Druid!

((I'm going to have to ask you to bear with me and read all the words of my posts carefully so that everyone knows the rules))

Next, there are six base ability types for everyone, these affect your ability to interact with the game on certain levels depending on your ability bonuses which are increased by +1 each second level gained for that ability.

((PLEASE NOTE, Dexterity and strength affect ability with weapons and Dexterity alone affects armor and reflex saves. If your character has an Itelligence score below 9 then they will be considered as having difficulty with speech and NPC reactions will be affected))

You will be able to choose how they are set according to the computer-game style instead of the traditional random rolling:

-Strength
-Dexterity
-Constitution
-Intelligence
-Wisdom
-Charisma

Each will be set to 8 with a -1 bonus score.
You will then have 30 points to distribute amongst them as such;

for example; Strength is added with 4 points from the ability chart, making it a total of 12 points with a +1 score bonus, leaving you with 26 allocation points left.

The first four points are without rules but if you wish to further the skill, it will begin to cost more:

To bring it up one point to 13, it will cost 2 allocation points to increase.
therefore it will cost four points to bring the ability to 14 from 12.



My character worked out like this:

-Strength 10
-Dexterity 12
-Constitution 13
-Intelligence 14
-Wisdom 10
-Charisma 14

Str: 8-10
Dex: 8-10-12
Con: 8-10-12-13

Int: 8-10-12-14
Wis: 8-10
Cha: 8-10-12-14

Therefore using up all of my available points.

If you wish to go higher, then it will cost two points to advance to 16, then it will be three points per ability to go further.


Once you have your character posted thus far, then i will supply you with racial modifications to the ability scores, basically each race has downfalls and positive aspects, the Dreld gain a +2 to Dexterity whilst suffering a -2 to Constitution...
Making it like this:


-Strength 10 (+0 Bonus)
-Dexterity 14 (+2 Bonus)
-Constitution 11 (+0 Bonus)
-Intelligence 14 (+2 Bonus)
-Wisdom 10 (+0 Bonus
-Charisma 14 (+2 Bonus)

((PLEASE NOTE: This listing must be read before allocating ability points, I'm sorry but i almost forgot it...))

When choosing your character's abilities, you must consider what is needed of each class if they are to complete the feats and tasks they may and will be called upon to perform.
For example; if you neglect to give an Undercloak the neccisary Dexterity ability points then almost all of their abilities will be impossible to even attain once higher levels are reached.

((I found this problem when i made a rogue into a sorcerer in NeverwinterNights; didn't have the neccisary charisma to even qualify for high-level spells))

Strength is crucial for these classes:

-Soldier
-Augmented Soldier
-Medic
-Martial Artist
-Ex-Law-Enforcer

Dexterity is crucial for these classes:

-Undercloak
-Martial Artist
-Free-Fighter

Constitution is not vital to any class but dont ignore it; it detirmines both starting health and the bonus is added to HP increase upon each level.

Intelligence is vital for these classes:

-Trained Psychic
-Untrained Psychic
-Naturalist
-Performer

Wisdom is vital to these classes:

-Trained Psychic
-Medic
-Naturalist
-Ex-Law-Enforcer

Charisma is needed for these classes:

-Untrained Psychic
-Performer
-Free-Fighter

Good news everyone;

the basic rules system has been moreorless finished and all that remains before we can play this is the feats, skills and psychic powers lists, the guns and items are all finished and i should have a set of specialist dice by tomorrow including twenty-sided, four-sided and ten-sided.

I already have a few dozen six-siders from my Warhammer gaming so the whole 'playtest' game version SHOULD be ready within the month but i will constantly update so these rules can be used again in another thread!!!

Incase I'm not online in the near future can i ask you all to post your short stories on your individual characters, you can involve sub-plots like you're out to find your brother or something...

please read my first post in this thread for further details BUT WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT is that the game will start in a remote refugee-sector inside the only unexpanded sections of the moon of Inolion and we are all in the same place...

As the game starts then we will meet early in the game then the plot will escalate...

The plot I've worked out is one hell of a ride!

Another bout of good news for the game!

I have just recieved my order of specialty gaming dice:
4x 4-sided
2x 8-sided
4x 10-sided
2x 12-sided
2x 20-sided

It all cost just $9.80 Australian for the lot (Around $7.30 US, I think...)

So there hass been no delays so far, the game will begin!!!

A tentative Terran Psychic (trained). Will I have to pick a discipline? What sort of disciplines are there? I think I will be a psychic, but trained or not is still to be decided. Are they basically the Sorcerer/Mage classes from D&D?

That is correct; they are in reference directly from DnD.

The Trained Pshychic focusses on rigourous study from years past, most usually beginning from childhood.
They are masters of the mind with mediocre offensive power.

The Untrained Psychic is a master of telekinetic power, never being trained or tutored (Very dangerous during puberty no matter the race...); able to control their every thought into physical force upon many different levels. They are rarely proficient at mind-orientated powers except the occaisional trick to fool their adversaries.
