Hmm I was always told that tall men are respected more and paid more in the workplace and are promoted quicker and attract women far easier than do short men. And when I was at school the most popular boys and the most respected teachers were the tallest.
However the list you have given of famous short men shows that short men can earn respect just as easy as taller men. Its all to do with attitude and personality if you want my opinion. And tall men aren't always stronger than short men. One of my friends is 5'6/7 and is a 4th degree blackbelt and can probably wipe the floor with anyone I know. Talk about respect lol
Having said that both my MA's instructors are over 6 feet tall and that is generally beneficial as they have more reach etc.,
An interesting point this. I have also noticed in school that the main bullies were shorter than usual. I wonder if short men feel threatened and less worthy of respect than tall men and so are more aggressive and hostile as a result [small-bloke syndrome?]. I have noticed most of the tall and thin boys and men particularly have a better time getting dates than their shorter peers.
All the same I think ANY man can look tall. Just stand up straight and stick out your chest and give off an aura of authority. Attitude and personality.

It was Michigan who started the Auto revolution, and we all know everyone from Michigan is a midget.

I will say one thing, most actors are short, and it's so they can fit in frame better with women, who are naturally shorter. Discrimination!!

Interesting thread.

I'm about 5' 9" tall inches tall, but carry some girth/build. I think its the men my height and shorter who are thin/skinny who feel the need to be angry so they can garner some respect....thus the term "small man's disease".

I'm only 5'7" and have never had a problem with dating or work. I only date girls taller than me and I am a businedd owner. I think it has more to do with attitude, personality and how well you carry yourself. Here is a pic of me from Halloween, 2005.

Naw..Bush is only about 5 9ish..he just uses lifts. I'm about 5 8 myself, and I can look anywhere from 5 10 to 6 feet in pictures, depending on what type of shoes I wear..

Check out this funny as hell site. There's an entire thread about it...

http://www.celebheights.com/

People sit around all damn day and debate about celeb heights. And I thought this website had some stupid people... stick out tongue

No. Tall men are more likely to be in charge. Most of the men that have been in charge of authoritative positions in Govt especially the office of the President of the US, have been tall men.

Heightism does exist but this barrier can be topple by the vertically challenged by carrying him/herself with respect and a natural sense of high self esteem.

But still, 5'9" isn't short. It's slightly under average.
