Alpha Flight: Shaman Respect Thread
Introduction:
Marvel comic’s Canadian magical user started his career in the pages of Alpha Flight and have had countless other appearances since his introduction. Michael Twoyoungmen was one of Canada's top surgeons, and becamefourteenth Sarcee Mystic in the long line of Shaman's. His daughter is the powerful Talisman and for a short period he actually became Talisman until his daughter retook her rightful power
In an interview found in Marvel Age #2 [May, 1983], John Byrne: "If you want to sum it up . . . he's Dr. Strange--but he does it with potions and herbs and little dolls and stuff, instead of just doing it with the power of his mind, the way Strange does. This possibly gives Shaman a slight advantage, I don't know. If he had the tools at hand, he can make just about anything. I don't know if Strange has that kind of power over the physical world."

Alpha Flight #125 [Vol.1]: Carcass (Part #1)
Shaman gathers Box and Diamond Lil as well as Wyre, and Nemesis to fight "Carcass, a disciple of Khaos, who has defiled Indian burial grounds to start the Unmaking, which could destroy all reality. But Michael is really deceiving them all. He transports them all to Carcass's dimension, where they are attacked by skeletons, dead noble warriors. They are winning, until Kathryn shows up and Michael freezes." Kathyrn is Micheal's deceased wife.

Becoming Talisman

Alpha Flight #38 [Vol.1]:
Snowbird is pregnant and they have to take her to a place of power in order to deliver the baby. However, Talisman set this up as a trap and her arrgoance became her weakness. Her hatred of her father and unwillingless becoming Talisman prevented her from fully unleashing her actual power. Thankfully later in the series she forgives her father and unleashes the full power of the Talisman. Major error Talisman powers work on ALL evil, not just spirits that's her powers and even without the Talisman she still has strong magical powers. Oh well it's a major error, but the writer at the time wanted to change the lineup. Here's the start of when Shaman breifly became the Talisman. The previous issue, Shaman was aged to an old man and after a short period of wearing the Talisman he was cured. He later willingly gave the Talisman back to his daughter as she is only the truely worthy one to wear it
