Evangel's Slugfest Showdown Tournament Information
I will be hosting the 2nd Slugfest Tournament. You must enter the tournament with a team of comic book characters. (No Anime or Manga Characters) Western Comics Only.
Team & Draft Information
Teams will consist of seven members:
1. One Herald-level member
2. Two War Machine-level members
3. Two Spider-Man level members
4. Two Captain America-level members
Every team must consist of at least one female member
Drafting will be on a "first come, first serve" basis
1. There will be four days of drafting
• Day one will be for War Machine to Herald-level characters
• Day two will be for two Spider-Man to War Machine-level characters
• Day three will be for two Captain America to Spider-Man-level characters
• Day four will be for two Aunt May to Captain America-level characters
Normaly, there will be a 24 hour time period for battles. A new thread will be created for each round of the tournament. A poll will be created, and after the 24 hour time period is over, then whoever has the most votes on the poll wins.
Votes must come from board regulars and tournament participants. Also, If I suspect any cheaters who are using their second forum account that was registered a while ago, you will be banned.
NEW OPTION!
• You can replace the Herald level pick with another Enhanced meta level character in exchange for 36 hours prep in a Doom/Richards type lab or a SHIELD weapon armory. You will still have a seven-man team but without any Surfer/Superman level characters.
. Battlefield removals are non-existant
Prep-time will consist of two hours on the battlefield and with teammates
Teams begin their prep at opposite ends of the battlefield.
1. To prevent premature fighting, the battlefield is split in two, right down the middle
• The battlefield split makes it impossible for teams to spy on one another via any means
G. The battlefield changes climate/location for every battle, but remains a constant 10 square miles
1. Battlefields are devoid of humans, but retain a natural abundance of common materials and animals
Examples of areas of battle:
• arctic ice field
• barren desert
• deciduous forest
• tropic jungle
• empty cavern
• metropolitan city
• The Moon
• Himalayan mountain range
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additional Information
The tournament host, me, has the right to overturn any character selections
Links about the character chosen must be provided for all characters upon drafting
Certain characters are banned:
1. Hourman
2. Rogue
3. Decay
4. Multiple Man
5. Lord Tantalus
6. Zoom II
7. Amalgams
8. Amazo
9. Super-Adaptoid
10. Stonecutter
11. the Engineer
12. the Doctor
13. Zatanna
• All characters are fighting to save the one thing they hold dear, that is their justification for fighting.
• Although they are fighting for what they hold dear, they would not do anything they wouldn’t do out of character. For example, At the start of the match, Superman wouldn’t speedblitz and rip every opposing team member’s head off.
NEW RULE!
• “Team Friction”: Magneto and Wolverine & the X-Men will not happily work side by side here. Batman and the Joker would never ever work together. If two people on your team have a grudge/history of fighting, they will automatically start to fight each other on the battlefield. You can have good and evil on the same team but you will need a reason why they should work together, if the reason is good enough there will be no team friction. Team friction will reduce how effectively you can fight your opponent. Your team members will be busy fighting, arguing, and getting in eachothers way instead of fighting your opponent.
• Teams will receive the opposing team's roster, but no more.
Characters who have had canon meetings will remember facts on one another and can share this information with their teammates
This is a 16 man tournament. Depending on how many people sign-up it may be reduced or expanded as I see fit. The first 16 to sign-up will have their spot guaranteed.
If I am unable to close or open a tournament thread, I will name a back-up tournament host ahead of time.
In order to participate, you agree to everything listed above.

There are tons of comicbook characters you can choose from that aren't even affected by these rules. You just gotta look. I'm trying to make an even playing field. The powers I banned can abused in a tournament like this. These rules worked really well in the first tournament and made for really interesting battles and strategies.
Well, that's completely up to you. My tournament is ready now and can start anytime there is enough people. I also made sure it was ok with the moderators, and they didn't seem mention anything about two competing tournaments interfering with one another. I have their stamp of approval.
I'm a bit confused....why do ANY of the combatants even matter?
For example, say that Team 1's Silver Surfer beats Team 2's 'herald leveller,' wouldn't he then be able to MASSACRE War Machine, Spiderman and Captain America with little to no effort? .
Enhanced Meta Examples would be:
Thing
Colossus
Pre-Extremis Iron Man
The Human Torch (without going nova)
Tempest
Carnivore
Conquest
She-Hulk
etc
For brawlers its like thing and colosus, their strength level would have to be 75 tons or less.
Street Level: No powers at all ala Captain America
Meta: Lower level mutants, Spiderman, Wolverine, Cyclops, Dr. Ocotopus
Enhanced Meta: War Machine, Thing, She-Hulk
Herald Level: Almost any herald of galactus, Superman, Hulk, Thor etc
If Silver Surfer does manage beat the other team's herald level, he would most likely have sustained injuries, be somewhat tired, drained, and not be at 100%. He could help his other teammates, but not without further getting himself injured or even knocked out.
Then there's situations where Surfer may too busy fighting the other herald level character to help his teammates.
Plus its also a matter of team strategy, the kind of terrain they are fighting in, and prep-time.
Although Colossus has raw strength, he could not beat Silver Surfer under normal circumstances. Same goes for She-Hulk.
E-Meta is a category for comic characters who may be powerful, but can't compete on a cosmic level against any of the heralds of galactus or the likes of Superman, Thor, Gladiator, etc.
Perhaps, but you would have to prove it and That's what this tournament is all about. If you need to know how this tournament goes, just search "slugfest showdown" and look at the previous battles.
Anyway I would appreciate If you would let me know if you plan on signing up. This thread isn't for debates. It's about signing up if you interested in the tournament.

I was giving him a general area for where most Enhanced-Metas are strength wise. Around the "75 ton area". I realize Colossus and She-Hulk may actually be stronger than this.
But Right now isn't time for this. This is a sign up thread and I don't want to turn this into any sort of debate.
Do you plan on participating and signing up?

For the same reason that the Avengers has guys like Captain America even though it has Thor, who could singehandedly defeat most of their foes. Another example is batman on Justice League.
