Thanos Rising
The story of Thanos' rise to power would make Shakespeare shudder," said Marvel's Editor-in-Chief, Axel Alonso. "The epic saga of a young boy, born in blood on a planet far, far away, who grows to become one of the most powerful and terrifying forces in the Marvel Universe, Thanos Risingtakes a cold, hard look at the eternal question: Are some people just born evil?'

I like his writing but Thanos feels like one of those characters where an indeph look at his background is probably not necessary.

From what I could tell, its basically just the retitling of Thanos : Son of Titan .

They did change the writer and artist. Jason Aaron's Thor is really good, so I have high hopes for this.

Unfortunately not everyone has read that such as myself
so this origin retelling might be a good starting point for some people.

I'm assuming that the girl thats influencing Thanos in his childhood is Death?

^Probably.
Edit: I wonder whether Hickman will make references to this in Infinity or not.

If this mini is just supposed to chronicle Thanos' childhood/rise to power, then Hickman probably doesn't need to give it much consideration at all.

It depends. The mini might refer a hitherto unknown event from Thanos' past, something which Hickman could potentially exploit for his big event.
It's speculation though, so take that for what it's worth.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01...ising-at-marvel Shakespeare...more like Exlax. I literally dropped a double deuce after reading the 1st issue.
Joking aside, it was a decent start. It was interesting to see Thanos' early history.

LMAO.
That's got to be the most overblown statement in the history of comic book pitches.

Shakespeare was just a writer. Alonso should have compared Thanos to some historical world dictator, to make his statement have the correct impact. Or, he should have said the origin of Thanos has Shakespearean echoes to it.
