Why do parents hide sex from there kids?

Why do parents go through such great pains to shield there Children from sex, something all Kids will learn about sooner or later, yet most don't try as hard to shield them from violence?

Because who wants to see or hear their parents having sex? Common sense.

I did. Fortunately I was too young to know what was going on. "Daddy, what are you doing to mommy?" sad

I've never known practical demonstrations to play a part in sexual education to be honest.

He's not saying "Why aren't parents f*cking in front of their kids to show 'em how it's done?". He's just asking why parents are so afraid, and I agree. I'm not sure why some parents wince at their youngsters so much as saying the word "Sex".

Because you're not a parent.

Well if the child is 6 then that would make a parent cringe. Hopefully not if they're teenagers or adults.

That has nothing to do with it, if my brother or sister asked me to be the one to tell their kids how it happened, I'd have no problems doing so.

It's all in how you do it.

By then they already know. There are seven years between six and a teenager.

I never walked in on my mom and dad, because they split up when I was 8. I did, however, walk in on my dad and his girlfriend (now his wife). Both of whom I despise.

I didn't care. I was about 17.

6 is the age where children already ask where babies come from. It is important to sit down together and answer the questions by providing information appropriate for your child' s age. Having those talks with your children is an important part of parenting.

So it's okay to let your six year old score headshots in Halo 3 but it's not okay to talk to them about sex?

It's very complicated... I personally found my older brother's porn collection at age 7 so... I got a crash course.

But kids are very... easy to confuse, Naivety plays a big part in how they learn, trial and error, so you don't want to expose them to too many harsh realities early on despite their resiliance.

Oh and Blax, tParents do make sure that their kids understand the difference bitween reaility and fantasy, otherwise they wouldn't even allow them to watch care bears.

I totally agree! It's important not to make it a big deal or an embarrassing thing. It's natural and kids need to view and understand it in that way.

Some do, many don't. You'd be surprised how many kids (In Japan and China, specifically. )have been killed trying to reenact things from WoW. A lot of kids also die trying to replicate WWE moves.

Overactive kids that ignore warnings... thats sad, but unless you want to fully endorse broad censorship, there's not really much outsiders can do, it really becomes up to the parent to control what children can see and do, to certain degrees.

From obviously being a kid, I know that kids are curious about themselves, and others. I'm proud of my parents, they let me have a childhood and I wasn't thinking about sex.

Kids are trying to grow up way too fast, having sex when they are only 12 years old or so, and its disgusting. I hope my child will be a lot smarter than the kids I went to school with.

There's so much more to childhood than figuring what your sexual body parts do. You can only have one childhood, and why fill it with sex, when you have the rest of your adult life to worry about that? When my children are teens, you obviously can't hide sex anymore, but... when you are little, you have this certain innocence. I'm glad mine wasn't ruined, and I wouldn't want any other's to be ruined.

But at the same time, if a Kid who knows nothing about sex is in an environment where he isn't protected from it that same innocence turns into a curiosity that may or may not be quenched in a positive way. Despite being innocent or not a child should know, imo. My parents never hid sexual stuff from me (They actually had sex on my crib when I was like 7 sick )and so I don't really feel this OMG need to out and get some with some hussie.

That's disgusting........

Well, there are things you can do to advise kids about that kind of stuff, without getting too sexual about it.
