It is one of the most powerfull entity to ever have appeared in DC Comics but at the same time , it's also rarely seen in the vs boards most likely due to its brief appearence . Hopefully that will change after this thread .
A short summary of how it had been discovered by a highly advanced race long before dinosaurs walked the earth :

Dr Fate arrives and along with Highfater , Etrigan , Darkseid and Orion forms a "Cinque of Cosmic Powers" each of them being connected to a difference elemental source . Using this he tries to attack the Anti-Life Entity .
"I control this union , being a creature of intellectual magic"
"Highfather adds to the pentagram with his connection to the Source . As does Orion with his connection to the same "
"Etrigan augments our might by tapping into Primal Mystical Forces beyond my calling"
"And lastly there is Darkseid , an acolyte of the Anti-Life itself , enabling us to turn some of our nemesis's might against it"
"How long can we , with our near-infinite might stand , against the truly infinite"
Even being near-Omnipotent to the point where he almost went mad due to the sheer might of the power he wielded , Fate knows he will fall before Anti-Life's power . Even when the entity was caught unprapared for the attack , they still couldn't defeat it .
"But even in the grip of near-madness caused by the heady feel of almost omnipotent might , Dr Fate realizes that even the cinque of power will eventually fall beneath Anti-Life's awsome forces"
"Fate has caught the entity unprepared for such an assault . But the advantage is still a fleeting one . Death and annihilation are still only a heart-beat away"
Realizing the he can't defeat the entity , Fate decides isolate it from the main reality and in order to do so he would have to destroy the whole dimension , which he does :
The Anti-Life Entity is apparently the Dark Side of the Source. It was created when the 3 most powerfull Old Gods attacked the Source which cause it to split into Ying and Yang..

So the Anti-life entity and the equation are one and the same. Especially since Scott is going batshit crazy from it. Plus, given how he looked in the last panel, he even looks like the ALE.
