durability and damage types

OK i've been meaning to do this for a little while. Some forms of damage are more or less effective than others, so let's discus this and try to come to a general conces about the effectiveness of attack types vs durability types.

so for starters i wanted to list some damage types that we can discuss later, we got; blunt, force, peircing, elemetal, sonic, corrosive, and energy

i'll put more in the thread later i am at work right now and i have to go fix a room

Corrosive and piercing are among the top dogs. Wolverine is a living example of how much damage piercing can do.

also wanted to talk about durability and their resistance to each type

for example knockback distance which comes mainly into play with blunt damage. My thoery on such is that a good portion of a heavy hitters attack is used to overcom his/her target's natural level of resistance, and whatever kinetic force is left is what causes actual damage. Other factors to concider is if a person is braced for said blow, angle of attack, and how much force is put into it. A good example would be something like doc samson punching luke cage and having no notable effect on him, and then punching something of the same durability level say an armored tank and either denting or punching a hole in it's armor. Although toughness wise cage and the tank are the same, luke's great strength and possible preperation for the blow gives him a high level of resistance and more of doc samson's blow is spent overcoming it.

by the way false alarm on the room... damn guest

So?

Wolverine with claws deals more damage than Wolverine without claws.

Also, this thread is practically screaming out for a few DnD nerd jokes.

The point is in the case of Wolverine his edged damage is more than other examples due to what his claws are made out of..........................
