Wiki says that the test started around 10:30 local time and took a bit less than an hour, and it's located mostly in France, so...a couple of hours, I guess?

All they've done so far is test that the thing works. The actual first collision isn't scheduled until next month.

Frankly I think stuff like this is awesome and really fascinating, I love science and particularly physics. I used to live about 10 minutes away from Fermilab, which used to be the largest particle accelerator until the LHC was built.
