if you have paint as a program, resizing your avvie is incredibly easy. just check out the "shrink/grow" tool, and you can keep the same proportions and have it fit in your avvie spot without having to work too hard.
all you have to do is find out how large you can make it [which changes by how many years you've been here] i think yours should be 65x65 and less than 20kb in file size. [someone correct me if i'm wrong?
if it's too large a file size, use "save as" and change what kind of image it is. ".png" is what you want, if you can make it, as that's the image at it's best quality, but you'll probably have to resave it as a ".gif" file. i have to do that most of the time with my images, and unless the image you're starting with was MEANT to be .png, it'll translate well into gif and that decreases the file size by a lot, very easily.

allright.

you've been here under a year, so the largest size your avvie can be is 65x65. this avvie's file size is also well under 20kb, which is the maximum limit.
using pain, this is what i did :
1. opened original avatar
2. click the "image" drop-down menu, select "stretch/skew"
3. it shows that the original image is 120 pixels by 120 pixels. this is much to large. enter 65 in place of 120 in both places. press okay.
4. your image is now 65x65 pixels; the largest pixel amount you're allowed to have right now.
5. go to the "file" menu. select "save as." your pictures will pop up, and at the bottom of the window, there is a drop-down list. you can see that the image is now saved as a png file. during your "save as," choose "jpeg" in the drop down and press okay.
6. go to your kmc avatar selection through your user cp. go down to the bottom of the page where you can enter in a custom avatar. "browse" your files, find doctored image, press "open"
yay! it works.
