Beloved

Saw this one last night and I must say: what a great disappointment. I didn't read the book, but I reckon with both a pulitzer and a Nobel prize, it MUST be so much better than this film: it's slow, here and there fairly crudely made, and oh so very predictable. I found it a pretty pretentious film, it certainly does not make the book very enticing to read, though my wife was very impressed by the book.

A poor legacy for the great late Jonathan Demme, too bad this was to be his last film.

Color Purple was good.
THe story had potential. Demme was known to be a good director, Danny Glover's a good actor, you have an award winning book... it's like, everything's there. Except a good film.
