So I need a new phone...

Any suggestions on what I should get? My current phone is starting to pack up, it barely recharges anymore. Should I go for an Iphone, blackberry or something else?

Blackberry is in trouble. They had a shake-up for CEO and are struggling against Motorola and Apple regrading features. Everything I;ve read said it will be at least a year for them to catch up.

I'm getting a Droid 4 when it comes out. It has a slider keyboard, dual core processor, 4G, touch screen and thousands of apps. I chose a Droid over the iPhone for 2 reasons only: the slider keyboard and I have an iPod 4.

I've contributed to your thread, now finish that pic I requested.

stick out tongue

The new iPhones are very nice. It has the best apps and is easiest to use.

Android is always good as well, I just got the Galaxy Nexus, and it's a pretty sweet phone. Great, large screen and the newest operating system. However, better hardware is supposed to come out within a couple months. The Galaxy S2s are popular as well. You might like a Motorola or HTC phone though, both make good stuff.

Alternatively, you could also get one of the Nokia Lumia's (I think the 900 should be coming out soon). Windows Phone 7.5 is a solid operating system, and all the basic functions are excellent. It is also beautiful. The downside is the app ecosystem is not nearly as vast nor does it have the same quality apps yet. But that might change.

Don't get a Blackberry, they don't even like their current operating system and are currently in a lovely freefall to crash and burn to death.

If you give more information on what you are looking for it will be easier to advise you.

Thanks for the info guys.

As for more information on what I'm looking for I'm looking for something that can play music, recieve and sent texts, recharges, has decent sound so I can hear calls clearly and has a good camera, the camera on my current phone sucks so much

Oh and Bada

The worst part about having a Blackberry isn't the phone itself. Mine works fine. It's not flashy, but I'm also not on it constantly. I call, text, check my work email on weekends, and update facebook and twitter occasionally. That's about it. But no, the worst part is everyone telling me I should get their phone of choice. All the time. Usually in a "I pity you" sort of way, or a condescending way if they're more of a dick.

I don't think Blackberry's are terrible, I think everyone just turned against them because they fell slightly behind and it's the popular thing to do.

So I dunno. I'm getting a Droid next. My buddy streams NFL Redzone on his for free all the time, and it works fine on a 3G. Seems like the only useful addition I could think of to my phone uses.

Agreed. I love when someone says: "You still have a Blackberry?"

Mine still works fine. Though, it can't show all email images and takes a while to open web pages.

It still does what it was designed to do well enough. It's just the design is a few years behind Apple, Motorola, Samsung, etc now.

Droid...Android...Motorola.

No, droid = android. It's a line of phones, like Blackberries or iPhones. It has the biggest market share right now along with the iPhone, iirc.

There are several Droid phones already out. I'm choosing to wait for the Droid 4 because it has a slide out keyboard.

If you don't mind a touch screen keyboard then there are several choices. Personally, I'd get a phone with 4G capability.

I use my phone for business as much as personal, so an actual keyboard is easier for me. None of my friends have complained about the touch screen.

That's not quite correct. As far as I know "Droid" is a brand of phones that runs Android. I think the brand is owned by Verizon. There is a lot of Android phones that are not "Droid".

Touch Screens are great for phones. But physical keyboards tend to be faster for text input. For most usage a touch screen keyboard will be perfectly fine. And you get a bigger screen, or at least a thinner phone. However the slide out keyboard phones can be quite good too, that's just down to preference. If you want a keyboard though you'll have to get an Android, iPhones and Windows Phone 7 do not support them (and Blackberry still sucks since my last post a couple hours ago).

For that you don't even need a high end phone, any low end smartphone does that. The 4G is something you might want to look into though, depending how good the coverage is in your part of the world.

Maybe to go on why I think Blackberries are a terrible idea to get right now. Their app ecosystem is just a complete waste, you can get nothing you'd like, anytime someone suggests an app to you, you'll have to say "Sorry, I was stupid and didn't listen to Bardock, so I bought a Blackberry". Worse than that, Blackberry is working on its new operating system they are set to release later this year, which they'll likely focus on from then on, so updates from Blackberry won't be as likely for the old platform and developers will definitely not touch it anymore. All in all, unless your employer forces you to get a Blackberry, don't!

Ok so blackberry is out the window atm. I would like a phone that I can text fast with as well, back to the current phone I have it's slow for text typing plus the keys are starting to not work so that really helps out.

People get really fast at touch screen typing if they type a lot, it's not really a problem.

To be honest, you don't seem too interested in phone technology, so I would just suggest you buy the iPhone 4S if you can afford it, or the iPhone 4 if that's better price wise. You'll probably be happy with it, they are solid phones, everyone and their mother has them, and they have the best app ecosystem.

Those two do sound more like my thing. I'm not really interested in the tech sure, I mean like I said, good camera, good clear sound when I call and fast texting. How good are phone camera's anyway? Cuz when I go to concerts or whatever people use their phones but I can't cuz the pics are pixelated, especially when I zoom

I think the iPhone and Droid have the best cameras. I know Droid has a flash.

Phone camera's are getting better. The iPhone 4S camera in particular is quite good and fast. I think for most people their phone can easily replace a point and shoot. You can google photo samples. For most popular phones they have some in their reviews.

Here's one for the iPhone 4S

And a comparison between iPhone 4S and the Galaxy Nexus (the phone I got recently)
