If people aren't familiar with Warhammer 40K and still wish to play, I'd gladly "dumb it down" for them.
It place on a mostly urban planet Ceris in the war-torn city of Boril. The Chaos Legion inhabits it at the moment with a civilian survivors living in the ruins.
During their digging, the Chaos forces found a large Necron tomb with thousands of soldiers still unawakened. Word spread throughout the galaxy fast.
The RPG should start right when the Necrons land on Ceris to wake their bretherin, as well as the Expansionist Tau, and the Space Marines, Imperial Guard, and Daemonhunters, and Witch Hunters who had been pursuing the Chaos army and planned a full invasion to take Ceris back.
Rules:
1) All non-OOC replies shall be done in the third person as if writing a book.
2) Of course, no one can kill another player for good, unless the other player complies.
3) I (or possibly trusted members of the RP) am the "Dungeon Master" and set scenes, when I am not playing as my character. For example: "As Anonymous Player makes his way through the debris, he hears near-gibberish being spoken in a thick cockney accent, just over the pile of rubble."
4) Players must their race (Chaos Marine, Necron, Tau, or any of the Imperial armis.) If they wish to be any other race, they must provide a reason why they'd be there and see if I approve it.

He is unaware of the massive conflict unfolding in Boril.

More in depth: While battling at Lorn V, he was severly hurt when he was hit by a Necron's Gauss cannon, he was going to die, but after reciving a modified suit which uses a combination of Tau commander Experimental suit and a Crisis suit, he can now sustain himself, now thought to be healed O'Tyro has the option to take it off but he belives it is something that should never be taken off of his body.....

Sash O' Tyro looks out of his Devilfish transport and thinks.... " After almost a year of defending this place.... i am finaling leaving this dreadfull planet, though why shall i complain, the Ethereals have looked opon me for my glorious actions" < touches his polished Commander Insignia> "This is all for the greater good". (The computer blares)
ETA TO CERIS 2 HOURS AND 4 MINUTES. "hmmm this will take a while"
<Picks up his type: XVV4 Recoiless Photon Rail rifle, or the X4 and begins to polish it>
........... 2.5 hours later at Ceris............
"My orders are to report to the foward command base, and pick up a Fire Caste Veteran with the name of Shas'Ui Jor'gaan" The Pathfinder on duty protecting the newly errected Space port, points to the Caste headquarters, barley vissable through the heavy fog.
"For the greater good Commander!" says the Pathfinder as he salutes in the customary way.
"mmmhmm" Says O' Tyro " At ease"
O' Tyro activates his jetpack and Flys twards the Headquarters....

Trained to fight for the Imperial Guard for as long as he can remember, Cylas fought in many 'minor' battles until he became a Stormtrooper. One unfortunate day, tyranids attacked his battleship en route to Medusa V, he and his fellow squad members took down wave after wave of tyranids until there were only three remaining including himself. The Sergent died and Cylas was promoted to Sergent in recognition of his brave fight and leadership during the tyranid attack. Cylas has yet to lose a soldier in battle, but that might soon change for his next opponent few have seen, and returned to tell the tale.
Bio: As a member of the DeamonHunters,Reecon proved his loyalty to the DeamonHunters when he obliterated two Killer Kans and a squad of Storm Boyz from the orcs single handedly. But that wasn't all that made him a commanding officer, years of battle expirence through out the universe. Though the last he was heard of was when his squad was sent to investigate a Chaos outpost, his squad was attacked by Khan the Betrayer and his berserkers, ultimatly he was left for dead. Though he managed to escape back to his army ready to continue the fight.
