CHASE SABRE DUEL- Kuylen vs. Gundark and Xeth
THE SET-UP: Both good and bad guys have split up to pursue various leads in the Galaxy. In this part of the story, both Light and Dark Siders seek the Force Master Mal Sannan, who under the name Kir Ascar run a major gambling business on Malastare. Sannan was a half-trained Jedi of great potential who abandoned his training long ago but evidently finished it somewhere else, and now espouses a philosophy of the Force utterly different to that of the Jedi. Most importatnly, Sannan is the only one who has at any point had both the Sith maps from Avalar and the Sith Astrolabe in his possession, and hence he knows the location of the Mausoleum that the bad guys seek. Sannan, wanted now by the Jedi, has fled to Nar Shadda, where Kuylen himself pursues him (along with some new recruits) to get that information from him, and meanwhile Jedi Master Gundark and the renegade Jedi Xeth- who knows something of Nar Shadda- race to get there first, more concerned with stopping Kuylen getting that information than necessarily arresting Sannan- though after his humiliation of the Jedi last story that would not be unwelcome...
Finding Ascar in Hutt Space is hard but both sides make progress. Gundark and Xeth finally track Ascar down to a penthouse hotel suite where he is awaiting a delivery. But upon entering, they find Kuylen already there, having arrived not ten minutes before. Kuylen is confident he can kill them both and attacks at once.
HOW THIS WORKS: Well, we all know the drill now. Here is a reminder.
The duellists take it in turns to attack each other. The attacker describes his attack and then the defender describes his defence. One person will succeed- a decision I make based on the skill of the fighters, the quality and appropriateness of their post, and a small random factor. I control Chion in this fight, with a further random determination made to see how appropriate his response is.
The winner of the round scores a point, and then the attacker and defender swap places. Aside from taunts, no other moves can be made except the single move or countermove you make each round! If drawn, the attacker wins
First to five points wins the duel, but like in tennis you must win by two clear points. The amount of points by which you win a duel is how dictates what happens to the loser- a two point loss is a superficial wound, more is losing a limb, a five point win kills your opponent outright. Regardless, you cannot pursue a defeated opponent no matter what; if you lose a duel (and survive) you can always escape.
At the start of any round, either combatant may try to flee.
In this 1 vs. 2 fight Kuylen will attack each opponent in turn and they will take it in turn to attack him. Other than that it goes as normal but according to how well they work together Gundark and Xeth can get a boinus towards winning a round that Kuylen can not. If Kuylen wins the Jedi who lost the most rounds (or the one currently attacking/defending in a tie) is the one who gets hit.
ANALYSIS: Kuylen has not been in a duel since story one where he fought Gundark. However, she well knows from that encounter why Kuylen is the Dark Side leader, and that his old reputation as one of the Jedi Order's finest swordsman is well deserved. Kuylen is a devastating fighter and duellist- strong, tall, incredibly instinctive and superbly skilled. His is a classical no-nonsense swordsmen whose disciplined strokes and cunning feints outdo just about all opponents. Even as a Master Gundark cannot keep with his his skill- and Kuylen is young and strong still.
Gundark is aided by Xeth who is undoubtedly fast and agile but, whilst far superior to any normal being with sabre in hand, is not the best swordsman on Gundark's team. Some close teamwork will have to result in order to stop Gundy and Xeth getting in each other's way as they have not trained with each other and use radically different styles. It is hard not to lay odds on Kuylen.

This is a time-limited duel. Only a certain amount of rounds will be fought before the fight ends.
Kuylen to attack, Gundark to defend.
Kuylen's first stroke is high, Gundark. He suddenly produces a lightning-fast jab of his sabre that is heading straight for your face...

Kellan's sabre had ignited the instant she saw her adversary. As he attacked, she crouched low, feinted a swing, then jumped straight up and somersaulted over Kuylen, landing lightly on her feet, trying to put Kuylen between herself and Xeth. She masked the pain in her arm and continued to weld her sabre with both hands as best as possible.

You never get that far- crouching low brings problems. Kuylen's first blow was not high but low, and he smiles as you fall for his feint as his high-seeming blow is reversed downwards. You are halfway through your own attempted feint and you clumsily block with your sabre before sprawling backwards
"Predictable, clumsy and slow, Jedi..." says Kuylen. "Have you learnt nothing?"
Damn it, you had forgotten that Kuylen fights with more than just speed and instinct, but also brains...
Xeth, you are clear for an attack yourself.

Kuylen has side-stepped to the left. Your sabre has stabbed vaguely at nowhere and when Kuylen elegantly turns to face you it is far less effort for him to move forwards and attack than it is for you to regain your momentum.

Kuylen stares at you for a moment, Xeth, his sabre in a solid guard in front of him. He twirls his sabre once and comes in on your left side, daring you to challenge his guard before making a solid cross stroke to spilt you in two, left shoulder to right hip.

Kuylen simply turns on the spot and carries on his stroke through the arc of his spin, so when yuo reach your target the blade is STILL coming and you yooo are thrown off balance by an emergency block.
(I seriously recommend you don't risk a counter-attack on your defensive moves against this guy!)
However, with the turn Kuylen is now at least between you two.

As soon as she saw Xeth avoid being divided by Kuylen's blade, Kellan moved in quickly, swinging her sabre in a wide arc downward toward Kuylen's leg, then checking at the last second and cut hard toward his ribcage, reaching, pulling the Force into her fingertips, into her right arm to give it the strength she lacked in her left, letting it flow through her, the warmth of its Light smothering the pain of her previous injury.

Kuylen makes his spin after fending off Xeth a full 180. He meets your blade full on with his own, smiles as you clinch together, and then pushes back HARD. Kuylen is a strong man, Gundark, and you are not as strong as you were, and you cannot use both arms at full strength. Kuylen's shove sends you backwards again, where you slam into one of Ascar's plints, A particularly expensive and fragile artifact falls off the plinth to the floor, where a moment before it hits it flies back up through the air into Ascar's hands. Frowning, he replaces it on the stand.

Kuylen now advances with determination, Gundark, his arms moving fast in a series of blows that drive you back and back and back until one blow outdoes your guard and he has a clear shot to your centre...

You dive to the ground. On the way down, Kuylen catches your sabre with his and you feel it wrench out of your hand, and then you are lying there, with Kuylen above you. He brings down his sabre to finish you...
And at this point you two can return to the main thread, where I shall post shortly.
