KMC Forums - Can't remember title. Ugh!

Hi!
I'm searching everywhere for the title of this movie and hoping someone here will know. Please help.

It must've been from the 80s, it was about two young men, one a US military ivy leage school student (played by someone who looks a lot kinda like an Adam Scott), who visits his friend who's working at the US consolate or embassy. The embassey worker character is maybe 20 yrs old and has a huge amount of responsibility and a huge office.

Has a picnic scene with other youths where the US military student crushes ants with a rock.

Same character was continually asking other male characters if they shaved with the grain of their beard, or against it.

Deals loosely with the juxtaposition of politics and youth.

It's a haughty, ambitious and pompous kinda movie.

Any ideas?
