The People vs OJ Simpson

Its on FX on demand, and on Apple Tv and during the week.

Probably the best show ever to come on television.

Same here.

There was just one guy at my school who thought he was innocent. Guy was actually pretty awesome, so he could get away with yelling up and down the hall "That's right, the damned glove didn't fit!"

On the other hand it's always entertaining to see the dude who played Ross on "Friends" trying to make everyone forget he played Ross on "Friends", and failing. It's sort of like "Band of Brothers" all over again.

I mean, Pain & Gain was based on a true story, but it was still a good watch. I'll be catching this on OnDemand. Considering that Gooding found it so draining that he hasn't been able to watch an episode himself I think the effort was well placed enough by everyone involved to give it a watch.

From everything I know it is most certainly not glamorizing anything in terms of Simpson.

Well OJ is in jail now for robbing a casino. So I really don't think the show could glamorize him even if they wanted to. Not unless they can warp reality to make the public forget the dude is in jail.

What this show should do is remind us of the huge injustice that was finding this man not guilty. Yet nobody rioted over it when he was found not guilty. Cities didn't burn over it, at least not from what I remember.

There have only tended to be riots in cases where people who are supposed to be a part of law enforcement and the justice system have clearly gotten away with excessive force or murder. And realistically it's still situational. Despite the decades of continued violence by police in New York rarely have there been outbursts of violence from it, at least on that large a scale.

It is interesting that both OJ and Trevon Martin's killer got away with murder, but also that in both cases it came from systemic failures of the prosecution, and not the law itself.

Seeing the way OJ was treated in general after the trial was also interesting. He was pretty much ostracized from anywhere private and exclusive in Beverly Hills, etc, but he didn't face that much backlash from the general public. The same for what's his name who was recently caught on tape admitting to having killed his ex-wife and a number of others over decades. He was generally considered to have been guilty even before the admission was caught by accident, but he didn't suffer much because of it.

I direct you to Ferguson, where they rioted before there had even been an investigation into what happened. They rioted at a time where they couldn't of possibly known the cop was in the wrong.

They also robbed a weave store when the Michael Brown memorial was set on fire. I wish I was making that up, but I am not..and the worst part is it's highly likely that nobody set fire to the thing, but that candles left at the memorial had blown over and started the fire.

So sometimes riots happen because they think cops have gotten away with some shit, and other times it happens because some people want the 5 finger discount for their Christmas shopping. Other times people will take ANY shitty excuse to destroy shit. It's similar to the crazy people who begin riots over sports teams. A bunch of irrational people doing stupid shit without any valid reason to be doing so.

Yas, there is much truthiness in your post. I cannot deny that when it's mindless it is also useless.
