I'll begin with my Super Hero team, I felt that certain actors that played in the X-Men were too old to play certain roles or... some were just too young to be in the same era as others, while a couple of them were just wrong. This is the cast that i would have chosen for the X-Men. Some I kept, others I added, while a coule I changed.
The Atom:John C McGinley
Superman:Tom Welling
Batman:Christian Bale
Wonder Woman: Jessica Biel or kate Beckinsale
The Flash(Walley):Ryan Reynolds or Neil Patrick Harris
Green Lantern(Hal ) David Boreanaz
Green Arrow: Joaquin Phoenix or Keifer Sutherland or justin Hartley or jason Mewes
Martian Manhunter:Phil Morris
Black Canary:Alain Hoffman or ellen page
My Cast List for an Alpha Flight movie -- going with the original volume 1, issue 1 lineup here (no links cause I'm lazy). The challenge here was to keep the casting limited to Canada, but I just couldn't do it:
Guardian -- George Clooney (after his bad turn as Batman I am willing to give him a second shot at comic movie success)
Shaman -- Adam Beach
Langowski/Sasquatch -- Brendan Fraser
Snowbird -- Charlize Theron
Aurora -- Marion Cotillard
Northstar -- Johnny Depp (yeah, he's neither French-Canadian nor French, but he could pull it off)
Marrina -- would probably cast an unknown for this one...the makeup would be intensive anyway...
Puck -- Peter Dinklage (and yes, he is a real little person -- his agility feats could always be done by CGI if it's a problem)
Heather Hudson -- Alicia Witt
It's not perfect, but there you have it...
Edit: Nathan Filion could also make an excellent Guardian, but is a bit young for the role IMHO...
JASON STATHAM as MANCHESTER BLACK (please log in to view the image)
ADAWALE AKINNOUYE-AGBAJE as COLDCAST (please log in to view the image)
MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ as MENAGERIE (please log in to view the image)
STEPHEN MERCHANT as THE HAT (please log in to view the image)
BRANDON ROUTH as SUPERMAN (please log in to view the image)
No offense to Henry Cavill, but the pivotal part of ACTION COMICS 775 was watching the boy-scout like Supes (seemingly) go dark at the end of the story.
Routh’s old fashioned down home Superman is going to pull that change off way more shockingly than Cavill’s already darker and edgier version.
COOPER HAWKES
(Space: Above and Beyond) (please log in to view the image)
Dealing w. a troubled past (genetically bred to be a soldier, escaped after killing his handlers, lived on the streets, re-captured, conscripted into the Marines as a pilot, a final disastrous mission w. his squad), Cooper’s on his own now, dealing w. his issues, using his piloting skills to earn a marginally legal living.
NATHANIEL TAYLOR
(Terra Nova) (please log in to view the image)
A career Soldier, Taylor’s last official action was providing security on a failed trans temporal colonization attempt. It cost him friends & family. Now in the private sector, he makes a living as best he can while sticking to his personal honor code. Though he’d prefer to go it alone, this kid he runs into while trailing the same bounty seems okay, if reckless.
SAFFRON
(Firefly) (please log in to view the image)
A con artist and born survivor, Saffron is whatever she needs to be in order to survive, except a joiner. She’s not one to stay in place for long, but finds herself more and more involved w. this odd collection of people, after they all collide as she was conning what turned out to be a man w. a hefty bounty on his head. The bounty hunters at least have a fast ship, and Saffron usually likes to make her exits quickly.
PENNY ROBINSON
(Lost In Space) (please log in to view the image)
Still lost, and now cut off from her family to boot, Penny’s made her way using her scientific and computer skills for pay in this strange sector of time and space. When Penny’s path crosses that of Cooper, Taylor, and Saffron, who were after a shady character that owed her money, she latches onto them w. a vengeance.
COSMO
(Marvel Cinematic Universe) (please log in to view the image)
Penny’s pet. He’s an old Earth relic found in suspended animation by Penny not long after being separated from her family. Hough Cosmo woke w. a high IQ and telepathic powers, he’s chosen not to communicate directly w. Penny or her new friends for now. He’s going to help them when he can of course, on the sneak. He’s a good dog.
SULACO
(Aliens) (please log in to view the image)
Taylor’s ship; a light assault carrier he got at Govt auction fir a song (it has apparently had some sort of bug infestation in the past) and modified. He did need to patch up some structural damage caused by what seemed to be acid of all things. Overall a very dependable craft, though.
Paul Walker as NY JETS quarterback Flash Gordon for me.
He wouldve nailed that shit.
Ashley Johnson as Dale, Zarkov's grandaughter.
She has the girl next door good looks to juxtapose against my Aura pick's exoticness. She has a TIGHT bod, too, for when she gets decked out to marry Ming.
John Noble as Dr. Zarkov.
He has the look, the voice. He's just friggin' PERFECT!
The Rock as Ming.
He's always cast as older, but my Ming is still well in his prime, but still old enough to have a hot daughter. Capable of tearing Flash in half, he’d just prefer NOT to get his hands dirty.
Priyanka Chopra as Princess Aura.
She has the exotic looks to be the Rock's offspring, and would look STOOPID hot in the alien outfits.
Gerard Butler as Prince Barin.
Handsome, actiony, pretty much able to match up to Walker's Flash on every way.
Kevin Smith as Vultan.
The 80s move Vultan was over the top and funny as hell.
Stick wings on fanboy Smith, and the fun he'd have would OOZE out of his performance.
Capt. Murphy-Lorraine Bracco
Dr. Stephen Woods-John Krasinski (please log in to view the image)
The Chief of homocide decides to pair a potentially psychotic new cop in her department with a cop who's about to retire. The department shrink does not see the logic in this.
Maddie Riggs-Katee Sackhoff
Rhonda Murtaugh-Regina Hall (please log in to view the image)
The rogue cop and her new, unwilling, too old for this shit partner. There WILL be a butt in the moonlight walk from Sackhoff, and a birthday bath scene from Hall.
Michelle Hunsaker-Jane Lynch
Andy Hunsaker-Miles Teller (please log in to view the image)
The death of her son makes Michelle contact old Army MP buddy Murtaugh, setting things in motion.
The General-Glenn Close
Mrs. Joshua-Heather Graham
Endo-Margaret_Cho (please log in to view the image)
These are the bad guys who are going to make life hell for our heroines.
I even threw in the asian torture expert who gets her neck snapped.
Trey Murtaugh-Anthony Anderson
Renaldo Murtaugh-Nadji Jeter
Nicky Murtaugh-Skai Jackson (please log in to view the image)
The kind hearted husband who invites Riggs into the family's home and hearts. The older teenage son who desperately wants Riggs to take advantage of him. The younger teenage daughter who's there to round out the family unit.
WILLIAM SHARP (Malcom Reynolds) (please log in to view the image)
The Captain.
A decorated astronaut and shuttle pilot. Can disarm a nuke w. 20 seconds on the clock. He may be straight laced, but he learned a thing or two from Harry Stamper about breaking the rules.
MISTY KNIGHT
(Zoe Alleyne Washburn) (please log in to view the image)
The Second in Command.
Tough black chick, good w. a gun, able to take charge, and sports a cybernetic arm to increase ass whooping potential.
NICK ‘goose’ BRADSHAW
(Hoban Washburn) (please log in to view the image)
The Pilot.
Has mad piloting skills, the cheesy stache Wash once sported, and if this gets made into a movie, he knows how to die heroically and tragically.
RAVEN REYES
(Kaylee Frye) (please log in to view the image)
The grease monkey
There’s no tech she hasn't been able to master, in 3 time periods and 2 planets.
ELI
(Derrial Book) (please log in to view the image)
The Preacher Man.
Not exactly a preacher, but he knows his scripture, and safeguards the last remaining bible.
THE SPHINX
(Jayne Cobb) (please log in to view the image)
The Big Guy.
The strong silent type. Will kick your ass bare handed, or w. his BFGs, he’s not picky.
OPHELIA
(Inara Serra) (please log in to view the image)
The Hooker w. a Heart of Gold.
Has a good business sense, and never gets personally involved, unless she gets personally involved.
DR. SHAUN MURPHY
(Dr. Simon Tan) (please log in to view the image)
The Doctor.
Skilled, young, handsome, naive. Raven totally wants to hit that.
MAX GUEVARA
(River Tam) (please log in to view the image)
The Living Weapon.
Like River, experimented on and given the power to kick ass by a shady Govt. organization.
