Because force-users are like Space Marines: they have to always be the center-of-attention.
Imagine how [SPOILER - highlight to read]: interestingshort TCW episodes would be if Asouka wanted to drop into enemy territory to save some farmers and the captain of the ship was like "lol denied you mong, a Jedi is a bigger war asset then some farmers so its not worth the risk"
and then she goes down and saves the farmers anyway, because thats what jedi always do
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: and then she was executed for insubordination

Yeah that sure came in handy when the very admirals they were commanding gunned them down like dogs in the street.

I just find it funny how the Jedi can take a crash course in war tactics and then all of a sudden they outrank fleet admirals. There are exceptions of course like kenobi

Because in canon, the Jedi are basically responsible for safeguarding the Republic. Between their status, reputation, and such, it fell to them to prosecute the war.
The irony of that entire situation is one of my favorite things about the prequel era.
Apart from all the reasons pointed out already, because Jedi were not only 'glorified monks', they were actually trained in combat since their inclusion into the Jedi Order.

trained in combat does not equal trained in military strategy and tactics. Jedi have the physical advantage, but their minds are no different than those of non-force sensatives

Yoda would certainly have been trained in military tactics, and ill go out on a limb and include a BMF such as Mace in this group also. Besides you don't need tactics when you can feel the situation out with the Force as many of the Jedi are seen doing in TCW
