Home Again is an upcoming romantic-comedy movie starring Oscar winning popular actress Reese Witherspoon who plays a 40-year-old single mother living in Los Angeles, who’s life takes an unexpected turn when three young guys move in with her. The movie has been directed and written by Hallie Meyers-Shyer. The film has been produced by Black Bicycle Entertainment and distributed by Open Road Films.

The writer/director Hallie Meyers-Shyer makes her debut with Home Again, she is the daughter of Charles Shyer (Creator of Baby Boom, Father of the Bride) and Nancy Meyers (Creator of Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday & It’s Complicated). Her parents have always specialised in aspirational rom-coms and the trailer for Home Again proves that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree – in fact, it appears to be firmly wedged between the two. It will be interesting to see what kind of treatment Hallie gives to her first rom-com as opposed to her parents hit movies.

In the trailer we see Reese Witherspoon playing a character called Alice Kinney, who has recently separated from her husband and is trying to start her own interior designing business. Reese Witherspoon looks comfortable in her role as she is moving back into the all too familiar rom-com territory which did help her garner initial fame. Michael Sheen plays her estranged husband Austen, a New-York based record producer. She is seen juggling two kids, 6-year-old Rosie (Eden Redfield) and 11-year-old Isabel (Lola Flanery).

The narrative in the trailer seems seamless and we learn that Alice is finding it hard to cope with everything that’s going on in her life. She throws a birthday bash wherein we see a romance blooming between her and a young 27-year-old aspiring director called Harry (Pico Alexander). The very next day Harry along with his friends George (Jon Rudnitsky) and Teddy (Nat Wolff) flatter Alice’s movie star mother Lillian Stewart (Candice Bergen) and are invited to move into their guest house by her. The romance gets further complicated as Harry is now living in Alice’s house. The plot thickens when Alice’s estranged husband Austin arrives at the house.

Home Again appears to be a gooey rom-com with all sorts of heart spraining stuff which can appear to be silly but seems very watchable too. It can appear to be a movie that is easy to burn down, yet deserves to be enjoyed.
