Cap has at least one feat of picking up a new style of fighting at the climax of Kang Dynasty on the holographic combat.

Cap is probably capable of it, but he is also stubborn and carries a large bulky shield at all times. Seems like it would be hard to switch fighting styles while grasping a 3 foot wide metal disk.

Thats an interesting thing to say, as its usually shown others cant fight the way -he- does/use his shield effectively.
Pretty sure Hawkeye managed to at least throw the shield correctly though.

And he also has at least one anti-feat of not being able to adapt to Hand ninjas' fighting style fast enough before getting his butt kicked.

No, not like that.
Doesn't help that Steve was at his absolute peak during WW2, either.

I'm just looking at it from a realistic standpoint. Seems like a large metal disk would impede my ability to replicate a lot of movements etc.

Well, this comics, but that aside, what i’m asking isnt gear dependent. He can you know, put the shield down.
