CHASE SABRE DUEL- Jolanta vs. Mah
THE SET-UP: Both good and bad guys have split up to pursue various leads in the Galaxy. In this part of the story, both sides seek the deeply unpleasant and violent half-trained force-user Persis, for he holds the Astrolabe that everyone was looking for last story. In the hands of the Dark Siders, the Astrolabe will give them the location they need for the Mausoleum. The Jedi plan to make sure this does not happen, and Persis must be brought to justice.
Persis has fled to the planet Tartarus, the centre of a huge smuggling operation and the subject of a senatorial investigation. A considerable Republican military presence is there. Persis is in the Civilian area, which both sides are having trouble entering. The Dark Siders (Chion, Galder, Jolanta and Rura) simply have to deal with the guards and security in the way. The Jedi (Marcus and Mah) have found themsleves entangled in Republican Bureaucracy and not permitted to enter the area lest they upset the investigation. The Dark Siders have taken a simple approach to their problem, and are trying to fight into the civilian area by force. The Jedi have come to stop them at the docking bay area, and in this fight Jolanta and Mah have engaged each other.
HOW THIS WORKS: Well, we all know the drill now. Here is a reminder.
The duellists take it in turns to attack each other. The attacker describes his attack and then the defender describes his defence. One person will succeed- a decision I make based on the skill of the fighters, the quality and appropriateness of their post, and a small random factor. I control Chion in this fight, with a further random determination made to see how appropriate his response is.
The winner of the round scores a point, and then the attacker and defender swap places. Aside from taunts, no other moves can be made except the single move or countermove you make each round! If drawn, the attacker wins
First to five points wins the duel, but like in tennis you must win by two clear points. The amount of points by which you win a duel is how dictates what happens to the loser- a two point loss is a superficial wound, more is losing a limb, a five point win kills your opponent outright. Regardless, you cannot pursue a defeated opponent no matter what; if you lose a duel (and survive) you can always escape.
At the start of any round, either combatant may try to flee.
ANALYSIS: The Jedi know very little of Jolanta, where she comes from and what her story is. She is not, however, a formidable opponent; she is young, her training is incomplete and she suffers from the same impatient flaws as a certain other opponent that has been duelled before. That said, she is talented; roughly equivalent to a Corelay-level Jedi Padawan in battle, but as a full Knight Mah has the edge.
Jolanta seems very keen to kill Mah and so goes first.

This is a time-limited duel. Only a certain amount of rounds will be fought before the fight ends.
Jolanta to attack.
Jolanta twirls her sabre once as she comes towards you, Mah, and then suddenly drops low and tries to sweep out your feet from under you.

Mah quickly jumps up and lands on the side of the attack, and with Jolanta stretched out for the strike, he slashes downwards towards her upper body.

Jolanta snaps back with great speed after you jump her attack, but not quite fast enough. Her blade comes up to block your blow but she is pressed downwards, at a disadvantage.

Mah strafes around Jolanta to get to her sides, where she'll have problems protecting herself. He moves quickly, making stab-slashes towards the foe.

Jolanta spins. But with you above her, when you block her blow you force her backwards, and with that pressure she will soon slip and be cut down.

Jolanta to attack
Jolanta launches a desperate move to break the deadlock. She speeds the short length to the hangar bay wall and runs up it to propel herself in a highly acrobatic flip to land behind Mah.

Mah sees Jolantas attempt, and rolls over to the right, so that Jolanta will land diagonally at the side of him instead. When she lands he quickly swipes towards her.

As Jolanta lands her blade shoots out and meets yours, and your sabres fizz and crackle as you enter a clinch- Jolanta's momentum gives her a slight edge, though....

Mah quickly withdraws his sabre from the clinch whilst simultaneously taking a sidestep; more of a turn to the right, so to avoid the enemy's sabre. He then, while in the move, swings his sabre at middle hight towards Jolanta.

Jolanta tries a lightning-fast stab as you withdraw from the clinch. It is an error born of impatience. When you side-step she is off-balance and you nearly kill her there and then with your mid-stroke. She spins to block at the last moment but almost falls over as she tried to keep her footing; instead she takes several fast steps backwards.

At this point, there is a high-pitched whine and a series of electrical explosions courses around the edge of the room. Many of the lights go out and the fight becomes hard to continue- especially as the Dark Siders seem to be withdrawing.
