Mmm...I don't think anyone would want to make a movie out of it, but that's what I'm going to try and have done. Where do you think I should post it then?
Anyway, here's the next bits.Scene: Nighttime. Andrea is asleep in her bed. A figure is standing at the end of her bed. It picks up a pillow at the nd of the bed and throws it at Andrea’s head. She wakes up, and sees the figure.
Andrea: (whispering) Is that you, mum? (the figure comes closer and sits down beside Andrea. Andrea leans over and turns on the lamp. She looks at the figure again, and sees that it is Kate) Kate? Is that you? But you’re supposed to be…
Kate: I am. I just came back to say goodbye. I miss you, you know. It’s nice and all, up there, won’t give anything away cause you gotta find out for yourself, but it’s lonely sometimes. I shouldn’t really say that…I have lots of new friends, but I want my best friend with me.
Andrea: I can be with you. I want to be with you. I miss you too much. It would be so easy just to-
Kate: (holds up her hand) Stop right there. Don’t even think about it. If you do, I’d beat the crap outta you. I’m okay where I am, I promise. It’s nice, really it is.
Andrea: I’m lonely here without you, though.
Kate: I’m lonely for you too, Andy. But I’ve moved on already. You haven’t. You can pretend you have, like you did today, writing me a letter and all, but I know that all you wanted was to be with me.
Andrea: I do want to be with you. I love you, remember? Why’d you leave me?
Kate: I guess it was my time too.
Andrea: Mum said that someone killed you. Who was it?
Kate: Don’t worry about that. He won’t be around anymore to hurt me, or you.
Andrea: Was it my dad?
Kate: (shakes her head) Like I said, it doesn’t matter anymore.
Andrea: How come I can’t see through you?
Kate: Why do you want to see through me?
Andrea: You’re dead.
Kate: Okay, putting it so bluntly is sort of offending, you know.
Andrea: Sorry, but if you’re a ghost, I should be able to see through you.
Kate: (looks down at herself) I don’t know why you can’t. Does it matter?
Andrea: Can I touch you?
Kate: I think so. Try. (Andrea reaches out a hand, and Kate holds out hers. They take hands) We can touch each other! I never knew I could do that.
Andrea: Can’t you stay? (Kate shakes her head) Why not? I want you to stay. You could live with me. We could go shopping together, and see movies and everything else. Please?
Kate: I can’t. I don’t belong here anymore. I’ll still be here, only you won’t see me.
Andrea: You’d stay if you loved me.
Kate: (sighs) Andy, I didn’t die because I didn’t love you. I do love you, very much, it was just unfortunate that I died, but I have, and you have to accept that. Besides, you shouldn’t get too stressed…soon you’ll have a beautiful surprise.
Andrea: (puzzled) Is it my birthday?
Kate: Not yet.
Andrea: Then what’s the surprise?
Kate: It won’t come for awhile, and at first you won’t think it’s a gift, because of where it’s coming from, but it is, and I know that you’ll love it.
Andrea: Can you tell me what it’ll be?
Kate: (shakes her head) You’ll find out soon enough. I love you, Andy.
Andrea: Just-stay a little bit longer?
Kate: I have to get back. (she pulls Andrea close to her) I love you, always remember that, okay? (Andrea nods) I’ll always be here, just you won’t be able to see me. (she kisses Andrea gently on the mouth)
Andrea: Please stay…(she opens her eyes. Kate is gone)
Scene: The next morning. Andrea wakes up, and gets out of bed. She sees a piece of paper and a book on the end of her bed. She picks up the book. It is ’Treasure Island’, Kate’s favourite book. She picks up the paper and reads it. It is in Kate’s handwriting, and says ‘my final gift to you. Love, Kate’ Andrea opens the book and looks at the words. Suddenly she slams the book closed and races out the door with it and the piece of paper.
Cut to the kitchen. Kelly and Heidi are sitting at the table reading the papers. Andrea bursts into the room. Both women look up.
Heidi: Okay, it sure seems that someone’s in a good mood today. (raises eyebrows at Kelly)
Andrea: You’ll never believe what happened last night.
Kelly: I’m sure you’re going to tell us.
Andrea: I am. (sits down at the table)

Cut to the jail. Marcus is looking through an old edition of the local paper. He sees Kelly’s and Heidi’s advertisement for a sperm donor, and grabs a piece of paper and a pen and scribbles down the address. He then grabs another piece of paper and starts scribbling on it.
Scene: 3 weeks later. Heidi comes downstairs to see Kelly already there, reading the paper.
Heidi: (tying up the sash on her robe) Hi there, early riser today?
Kelly: (distracted) Uh huh…
Heidi: (sits down oppissette Kelly and folds her arms on the table) Whatcha reading?
Kelly: Hmmm? (looks up) Oh, just something about Andrea’s friend Kate.
Heidi: Mmm?
Kelly: It’s been nearly a month since she died. I can’t believe it’s taken then so long to figure who killed her.
Heidi: Did they find out who it was? (Kelly nods) Have they arrested the bastard yet? (Kelly shakes her head) Well, what happened?
Kelly: My father killed her.
Heidi: But he’s dead.
Kelly: I know. I don’t know who killed him, and I don’t really care, but-
Heidi: Did it say in there if they suspect that Marcus guy?
Kelly: Nope. They didn’t find any evidence of killed him, so I guess we’ll never know. What we do know, is that my father, who was also killed, killed my daughter’s best friend. So there you have it-case closed. (she stands up) So, are we going over that list of donors today?
Heidi: I would never be able to change the subject as well as you. Ummm…yes, we will go over them, although I don’t think many of them are genuine, they just like the idea of helping two-
Kelly: (holds up a hand) Don’t say it.
Heidi: Do you have any idea of who sounds the most suitable?
Kelly: None of them, but I’m desperate.
Heidi: Me too. Er, Kel?
Kelly: Yes?
Heidi: We haven’t made that appointment with the hospital yet.
Kelly: Screw that.
Heidi: We should go, so we know we don’t to have any problems. (looks uncomfortable, but Kelly doesn’t notice)
Kelly: There’ll be a bigger problem if someone figures out what we’re doing.
Heidi: All the people who read the paper will know.
Kelly: We have lots of friends, they won’t tell. Hopefully someone ‘high’ up, so to speak, won’t find out. This is illegal, you know.
Heidi: But we’re desperate, remember?
Kelly: We are. (looks around) Where’s Andrea?
Heidi: Bathroom.
Kelly: Oh. Well, tell her to hurry up or breakfast will be over. (she walks over to the counter and switches the kettle on)
Cut to the bathroom. Andrea is staring intently at a pregnancy test. There is a pink line showing. She picks up the box and reads the writing on the back, and looks back at the test.
Cut back to the kitchen. Kelly and Heidi both look up when they see Andrea come through the door. She has one hand behind her back.
Kelly: Hello there, sweetheart.
Andrea: (slight smile) Hi. Ummm…
Heidi: Is something wrong?
Andrea: Ummm…kind of. (takes a deep breath) Maybe I should just show you. (she brings the test out from behind her back and places it on the table. She looks directly at Kelly, who blinks when she sees it. She reaches over the table and picks it up. She looks at it, then across to the table at Andrea, then at a shocked looking Heidi, then back at Andrea)
Kelly: When did this happen?
Andrea: (looks down) A while ago.
Kelly: (snaps) Look at me when I’m talking to you. (Andrea looks at her) How did this come about?
Andrea: I didn’t tell you everything about how I got here.
Kelly: (comes around the table and grabs Andrea’s arm) Well, I think you’ve got some explaining to do, don’t you? (Andrea nods as Kelly drags her from the room. Heidi watches them go, then starts gathering up plates to wash)
Cut to Andrea’s room. Kelly pushes her down on the bed and sits beside her.
Kelly: So, is this how you repay me? By slutting around?
Andrea: I do not **** around.
Kelly: How did you end up like this, then? (yelling) How could you be so stupid?
Andrea: (shouts) It wasn’t my fault!
Kelly: Bullshit! You were the one who spread your goddamn legs for some bastard. Just who’s fault was it, then, if it wasn’t yours?
Andrea: I had to do it.
Kelly: Oh, sure. You could have stopped it.
Andrea: Just because you couldn’t stop Marcus from raping you.
Kelly: (through clenched teeth) Don’t you dare mention his name again.
Andrea: Why? You can’t even remember what he did to you, so why does it matter?
Kelly: You are crossing a very thin line, missy.
Andrea: If you must know, I did it willingly, but at the same time I didn’t want to do it. Does that make sense? (looks down at the floor and sighs) I’m sorry it happened, but at the time I didn’t think I had a choice.
Kelly: (confused) What do you mean?

Andrea: Before Toni drove me here, I was in another taxi with a guy named Paul. I didn’t have any money, and he was a real sleeze. I thought he might feel sorry for me, but he didn’t. I was desperate to get here, and he said he’d take me to you, if I let him have sex with me. He promised he’d drive me to your place. I believed him. I still can’t believe how stupid I was. It hurt so much, and he practically yelled at me when I bled everywhere. He had to get me a pair of pants to wear, because my other clothes were all ruined. He still said he’d drive me to you, but we hadn’t gone far when he kicked me out of his car. I was angry, and I felt really stupid that I’d trusted him. The only other person I’ve ever trusted is Kate…(looks at Kelly) and you, and Heidi. (looks away) I slept on the street that night, on a pile of cardboard. The next morning, I met Toni, and she drove me here. I just had to see you so bad. I didn’t want to stay there forever. I really thought Paul would take me to you, but he didn’t. Instead he hurt me really bad, then dumped me. I had no idea I’d get pregnant. I’m sorry. (looks at Kelly) Are you mad at me still?
Kelly: Why didn’t you just refuse to do what he wanted you to do, and get another taxi?
Andrea: If it weren’t for him. I might not be here. If he hadn’t have left me where he did, I might not have met Toni, and I might never have ended up here.
Kelly: (takes a deep breath. Thinks for a moment) Okay, we won’t say anymore about it. We should think about he most important person here-(looks down at Andrea’s still flat belly) that baby. (looks back at Andrea) What are you going to do with it?
Andrea: I want to keep it, if that’s okay.
Kelly: Well, at least I don’t have to ask that you do.
Andrea: I know you want me to keep it, miss anti-abortion.
Kelly: Just because I’m against it, doesn’t mean you have to be. I will respect your opinion always, no matter how different it may be to mine.
Andrea: I could never kill my baby. I’m with you on this one, I’m going to keep it.
Kelly: I’m going to be a grandmother.
Andrea: Yep.
Kelly: Oh, heck. I’m too young for this. (wraps her arms around Andrea) I’m sorry I got angry at you.
Andrea: Sorry I said what I did.
Kelly: That’s okay now. (pulls away) We should go downstairs and explain what’s going on to Heidi, shouldn’t we?
Andrea: Grandma Heidi. Has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?
Kelly: Christ, she’ll really love that, won’t she?
Andrea: (stands up and heads for the door) This is gonna be fun.
Kelly: I can only imagine. (she gets up and follows Andrea out the door)
Scene: Four months later. Kelly, Heidi, and Andrea are in a spare bedroom, decorating it for the baby. Kelly is busy pasting rows of bunny rabbits on the yellow painted walls, Heidi is making up the cot, and Andrea is adding baby clothes to the stack already in the closet. She is five months pregnant.
Kelly: (steps back to admire her handiwork) I’m still not sure about the bunnies.
Andrea: (looks at the wall with bunnies) It looks fine…(turns back to the closet. Frustrated) I’m fast running out of room, here.
Kelly: Well, you did insist on buying half the baby clothing store.
Andrea: And you let me. Besides, I don’t even know if it’s going to be a boy or a girl. I can’t buy all pink outfits, or all blue. What if I bought all pink and it was a boy? Can you imagine? I have to buy both colors.
Heidi: And every other color in between.
Kelly: You could have just bought all yellow.
Andrea: Oh, yuck! The kid will be so camouflaged in this room I won’t be able to find it. That is just not on. (turns back to the closet)
Kelly: (shrugs) Have it your way, then. (the doorbell rings) Want to get that, Andy?
Andrea: Yeah, okay. (leaves the room)
Heidi: (looking at the cot) Well, that’s the cot done.
Kelly: I must say, it took you an awfully long time to make that bed up. Why don’t you spend as much time making our bed as you did here?
Heidi: Babies like to sleep comfortably, you know.
Kelly: (offended) So do I!
Heidi: (grins) Shall we sleep comfortably tonight?
Kelly: Are you on Viagra?
Heidi: (pretends to look hurt) I’m hurt that you would even think of such a thing. Viagra is for men, in case you’ve forgotten.
Kelly: Men, urgh. (screws up her nose) I prefer women, myself.
Heidi: That makes two of us, then. (they both look toward the door when Andrea comes back in. She is holding an envelope) What’s that, sweetie?
Andrea: (hands the envelope to Kelly, who tears it open) I don’t know. The guy who gave it to me said it was from a friend. (looks at Kelly, who has taken out a slip of paper) I don’t know who, though.
Heidi: What’s it say, Kel? (looks at Kelly, who is frozen, staring at the paper) Is something wrong? (she takes the paper from Kelly and reads it. The writing is scribbled, but legible. ‘that’s my daughter you’ve got there’) Oh, God. (looks at Kelly, who is looking at Andrea. Andrea looks confused)
Andrea: Who’s it from? Did someone die? (looks at Kelly) Mum? (Kelly doesn’t answer. She looks at Heidi) Heidi, what’s wrong?
Heidi: (scrunches up the paper) Nothing, it’s nothing. (looks at Andrea) Andy, would you go downstairs for a minute?
Andrea: Are you going to tell me what’s wrong?
Heidi: Just go downstairs.
Andrea: Hmph. Fine. I know when I’m not wanted. (stomps out of the room)
Heidi: (puts an arm around Kelly, who pushes it away) Kel…
Kelly: (whispers) He found me.
Heidi: We don’t know it was from him.
Kelly: (shouting) Of course it’s from him! Who else would he be referring to as his daughter?
Heidi: He’s only trying to scare you. Don’t let him do that.
Kelly: He knows where we live.
Heidi: He won’t hurt us. If he even comes near us, he’ll know what will happen. I’m sure the cops’ll keep an eye on him when he gets out. Don’t worry about it.
Kelly: He gets released in a few days.
Heidi: Actually, there was a report in the paper about him. Apparently he assaulted a copper. He’s in there til at least September. That’s another three months.
Kelly: Like that makes me feel any better. (puts a hand to her forehead) Why did this have to happen?
Heidi: (takes Kelly in her arms) He’s just scaring us, is all. He can’t hurt us.
Kelly: I hope your right. Should we call the police and tell them.
Heidi: Let’s go do it right now. (pulls away and takes Kelly’s hand) Let’s go downstairs, okay? (Kelly nods, and Heidi leads her from the room)
Cut to downstairs. Heidi and Kelly are downstairs. Heidi hangs up the phone and turns to Kelly.
Heidi: They said they’d look into it, but they can’t do much. He’s still in prison, and he isn’t a direct threat to any of us just yet.
Kelly: What if he sends another note?
Heidi: We’ll call them again, and tell them, but I don’t really think they can do anything about it.
Kelly: You should have told them to shove it up their arse, then.
Heidi: Maybe. (she walks into the living room. Andrea is sitting on the sofa. She looks at Heidi when she comes in. Kelly comes in behind her)
Andrea: What do you want?
Heidi: (walks over to Andrea, and stands in front of her. She reaches down and grabs her hands, and pulls her up, then puts her arms around her, and hugs her) I’m sorry. I was just angry.
Andrea: Was that letter from Marcus?
Heidi: Yes, it was, but he’s not going to hurt any one of us. He just sent that letter to scare us.
Andrea: How do you know?
Heidi: I don’t, but I’ll deck the bastard if he comes anywhere near us.
Kelly: (laughs) I’d like to see that. (she comes over to Heidi and Andrea, and wraps her arms around both of them)
Scene: The next day. Andrea comes downstairs and sees Kelly and Heidi all dressed up.
Andrea: Where are you guys going?
Kelly: Oh…we forgot to tell you. Today’s our big checkup day at the hospital. We find out if we’re healthy, and can carry babies.
Andrea: I thought you were going to go months ago.
Heidi: We were, we just couldn’t be bothered.
Andrea: All that sperm you got in the dishes isn’t gonna work for you, you know.
Kelly: I know. I don’t like that idea anymore, anyway. I’m going for the IVF thing.
Andrea: Uh huh.
Kelly: (looks at Heidi) Come on, Hi. I want to see who’s gonna carry our babies.
Heidi: Coming. (she gets up and walks to the door with Kelly. She looks nervous)
Scene: Later in the day. Kelly and Heidi arrive home from their hospital appointment. Kelly comes in first, then Heidi, who slams the door behind her. Both are crying. Andrea comes into the living room from the kitchen and looks at them.
Andrea: What happened? (Heidi walks past her and stomps up the stairs to her room. The bedroom door slams) Mum? (looks at Kelly) What happened?
Kelly: (walks past Andrea) Just forget it.
Andrea: But I want to know why you’re both so upset.
Kelly: (whirls around to face Andrea. She snaps) I said to just drop it. Do you understand that? Go and decorate your precious baby room, because there’ll be none of that for us. You didn’t even see that coming, did you? (runs up the stairs. The bedroom door opens, then slams shut once more. Andrea looks up the stairs, then storms over to the front door. She pulls it open and runs out, down the path and out the gate, down the street. She doesn’t look when she begins to race across the highway. She is halfway across when a car screeches it’s brakes to avoid hitting her. Andrea looks at the car, and tries to get out of the way, but she is not quick enough. The car is not going very fast when it hits her. She falls, and reaches up to grab something, but all she touches is the cars front bonnet. She lets go, and falls back. She hits her head, and her eyes close. She has a gash just above her hairline.

Scene: Back in the house. Kelly and Heidi are in their room, lying on their bed, staring at the ceiling.
Kelly: I just can’t believe you didn’t tell me.
Heidi: I didn’t want to hurt you.
Kelly: Well, you did. I hope your happy. (the phone rings. They both ignore it for five rings) Answer that would you, Hi.
Heidi: Why should I? (it rings again)
Kelly: Because I said so. (a seventh ring)
Heidi: Fine. (she gets up, and opens the door. She walks out into the hall and snatches up the phone. She snaps into the receiver) What? (she listens, and her facial expression changes from that of anger to that of shock) We’ll be right there. (she slams down the phone and races back into the bedroom. She yells) Kelly, get up! Andy’s in the hospital.
Kelly: (sits bolt upright) What?
Heidi: You heard me, get up! (she races out of the room and down the stairs, Kelly close behind her. Both of them run out the front door, Kelly slamming it shut. They race out to the car and hop in. Heidi starts it up, and roars off down the road)
Kelly: What happened to her?
Heidi: A car hit her.
Kelly: How?
Heidi: Easy-boom.
Kelly: I mean how as in…she was inside.
Heidi: She was outside, obviously.
Kelly: She must have gotten angry with us.
Heidi: (turns left) I think that’s about it. We’ve been ignoring her a lot, lately, you know.
Kelly: This time is different. I couldn’t even look at her, knowing that she can-after hearing what they said about me, I just couldn’t bear to look at her like that. It’s just so unfair. Why can she…(trails off) and I can’t?
Heidi: (pulls into the hospital carpark) I can’t either, remember?
Kelly: (opens her car door and gets out. She closes her door, and, with Heidi, races toward the hospital front doors) Yeah, I remember. God, I hope she’s okay. (they both crash through the doors)

Cut to Kelly and Heidi following a nurse down the hallway. The nurse stops outside Andrea’s room.
Nurse: We’d like to keep her in overnight for observation, but I think she’ll be fine. She’s very lucky, you know. Her baby could have easily been killed.
Kelly: Thank you.
Nurse: My pleasure. Enjoy your stay. (she walks off to the nurses station)
Kelly: (looks at Heidi) How do we explain this to her?
Heidi: You sound like you think she’s gonna hate you.
Kelly: She might. I mean, we should have told her.
Heidi: Something’s you need to keep private for a little while, until you get over them yourself.
Kelly: I guess. (sighs) Well, let’s go in.
Heidi: Let’s. (Kelly pushes open the door and they both go in. They both look at Andrea. She is lying in bed with an IV in her arm and a bandage over the gash in her head. She is staring at the ceiling. She looks at them when they come in, but turns away. Kelly and Heidi walk over to her bed. Andrea doesn’t move.
Kelly: How are you, baby? We were so worried about you. (she sits down. Heidi sits down in a chair next to her)
Heidi: Really, we were. We came straight here when we heard. We are both so, so sorry this happened.
Andrea: (turns her head to both of them) Am I meant to apoligise for running away?
Kelly: No, of cause not, but-
Andrea: (turns head away) It’s okay for you guys to leave me out of things whenever it suits you, is that it? Feel guilty now? (looks at them both) Hmmm? Why did I even bother looking for you? You don’t care about me.
Heidi: That’s not true, and you know it.
Andrea: Yeah, sure.
Kelly: I love you more than anything in this world, Andy. I’d do anything for you.
Andrea: (looks at her) Except include me in all the important discussions, right?
Heidi: We don’t have to tell you everything right away, you know. Sometimes we may just want to keep things private before we say anything. If we say anything at all, that is.
Kelly: Exactly. We were going to tell you about this, but we didn’t want to straight away.
Andrea: So what’s wrong with you two, then?
Heidi: Kelly and I can never have kids. I knew I couldn’t before we went and got checked out. I didn’t want to hurt Kelly, I thought she’d…
Andrea: Leave you? (Heidi nods) Mum wouldn’t do that.
Kelly: Cause I wouldn’t. I wish she’d told me though. It would have been a lot easier for me, then.
Andrea: Can’t you have kids, either?
Kelly: Nope. I must have had a difficult pregnancy with you.
Andrea: Not that I recall.
Kelly: Maybe something happened that you don’t remember, then.
Andrea: I guess. I’m really sorry. I didn’t know…I shouldn’t have run off. My baby could’ve been killed.
Heidi: Well, it wasn’t.
Kelly: And that’s the important thing.
Heidi: So, you can understand why we were a little upset?
Andrea: Mmm hmm. I’ll let you babysit my kid all the time, I promise.
Kelly: You better.

Scene: Two days later. Andrea is resting on the sofa, Kelly and Heidi are in the kitchen, cooking. Heidi is peeling potatoes and Kelly is chopping up carrots. The doorbell rings. Kelly puts down the knife she is holding and goes to answer it. She opens the door and sees no one. She looks around, and is about to close the door when she sees envelope on the ‘welcome’ mat. She bends down and picks it up, then closes the door. She walks past Andrea to the kitchen.
Andrea: (from the sofa) That’s the same sort of envelope the other letter came in.
Kelly: (looks across the room at Andrea) I know. (she walks into the kitchen and puts the envelope on the counter. Heidi puts down the peeler and picks it up. She studies it carefully. Finally she looks at Kelly)
Heidi: Do you think…?
Kelly: I’m too afraid to open it.
Heidi: (tearing it open) Well, it might not be what we think it is. (she pulls out a slip of paper and reads it) It is. (shows the paper to Kelly. “is your daughter as tight as you were?” is scrawled on it)
Kelly: (whispering furiously) He is such a sick bastard.
Andrea: (walks in the kitchen door) It’s from him again, isn’t it? (Heidi nods, and hands the paper to her. Andrea reads it, and looks up) Does he mean what I think he does?
Kelly: He’s a sick son of a *****. I swear, if I had the chance, I’d kill him myself.
Andrea: (puts the note on the table) Call the cops.
Kelly: They did nothing last time.
Heidi: We should still let them know. (reaches for the phone and dials)
A few minutes later. Heidi hangs up the phone and looks at an anxiously waiting Kelly and Andrea.
Andrea: Is he going to get into trouble?
Heidi: I doubt it.
Kelly: Can’t they do something? This is the second time he’s done this.
Heidi: They can’t do anything. He’s in prison, and they say he poses no immediate threat to us. Their right-they can’t put a patrol car outside when he’s not even here to terrorise us. They also say that because he hasn’t left his name on the letter, we can’t be sure that it’s him.
Kelly: (snatches up the letter and waves it in Heidi’s face) What do you call this, then? (slams the letter down on the counter) I am not going to put up with this. Have they even asked him about it?
Heidi: Have you any idea how ridiculous you sound? He-
Andrea: He won’t say it’s him, because they’ll keep in jail longer, right?
Heidi: (glances at Andrea, then back at Kelly) That’s probably right.
Kelly: (sighs, and runs a hand through her hair. She presses her hand against her forehead, then lets it drop to her side) So what do we do?
Heidi: They just said to ignore it.
Kelly: (shouts and stamps her feet) I will not ignore it! This bastard is terrorizing me again! And I don’t even remember the first time! (stomps her foot on the floor) I feel like such and idiot saying that! (glares at Andrea) If you hadn’t have come here…
Heidi: (snaps and raises a hand) Okay, that’s enough, Kel. No ones at fault here. You just need to calm down…
Kelly: (yells) I will not calm down! This wouldn’t be happening if she-(points at Andrea, who looks hurt and angry) hadn’t come knocking on my door. (puts her hand down and glares at Andrea) My life would be so much better if you hadn’t come into it. You’ve disrupted everything! I wish you had stayed in that crappy orphanage you came from. I didn’t ask to see you, I never even wanted a daughter! Why the hell are you still here?
Andrea: You did want me.
Kelly: Then I would have done a lot more to prevent you from being sent away.
Andrea: (shouting) This would still be happening even if I wasn’t here! You’d be a lot more afraid than you are now, though, because you wouldn’t know what was happening! (incredulous) Do you have any idea what I put myself through to get here? If I hadn’t have left, Kate would still be alive.
Kelly: That’s not my problem. You should have stayed there. (Andrea reaches out and smacks Kelly across the face. She grabs her check and tears come to her eyes. Andrea looks at her)
Andrea: I hope you regret what you said just then. (she turns and walks out of the room)
Kelly: (stomps over to the counter and picks up the knife. She starts chopping furiously) Why don’t you go pack?
Andrea: (from outside the kitchen) Perhaps I will.
Kelly: (not looking up) You go do that.
Heidi: (looks at Kelly disbelievingly) Have you any idea of what you’ve just done? You are about to loose your only daughter. Does that worry you, or are you too bust thinking about yourself? (Kelly doesn’t answer, and Heidi storms out of the room)

Cut to outside Andrea’s room. Her door is closed. Heidi knocks on it.
Andrea: (from inside) Go away.
Heidi opens the door and walks in. Andrea is sitting on the edge of her bed. Heidi sits down beside her) Kel didn’t mean what she said.
Andrea: Really? She sounded like she meant it to me.
Heidi: She’s just mad. This guy is really scaring her. She just need someone to take it out on.
Andrea: So she chooses me, is that right?
Heidi: Like I said, she doesn’t mean it. She’ll apologize as soon as she realizes she said the wrong thing.
Andrea: She said she didn’t want me.
Heidi: (sighs) Sometimes people say things that they don’t mean.
Andrea: Then why do they say it?
Heidi: To hurt people. Kel wanted to hurt you, so she said something that she knew would hurt you.
Andrea: If I said something mean to her, we’d be even.
Heidi: (shaking her head) You don’t hurt someone because they hurt you.
Andrea: Why not?
Heidi: Because it’s not right.
Andrea: Why?
Heidi: It just isn’t.
Andrea: When will mum say sorry?
Heidi: When she knows she hurt you. Just wait for her to calm down.
Andrea: I don’t want to have to leave.
Heidi: Your not going anywhere.
Andrea: But mum said-she didn’t mean that either, did she? Does she still want me to stay?
Kelly: (from the doorway. Softly) Of course I do. (Andrea and Heidi turn to look at her) I’m sorry, for what I said. I’m just afraid.
Heidi: Yeah? Well so are we.
Kelly: I know that, and I am sorry. I shouldn’t have said what I did. (she comes into the room and sits beside Heidi on the bed) You both know I didn’t mean it. I would never ask you to leave here, Andy. I’m your mum, and I love you.
Andrea: Mum’s must get grumpy sometimes, then.
Kelly: I guess they do. (she turns to look at Heidi) Would you excuse us, Hi?
Heidi: Sure. (she stands up, and walks out the door, pulling it closed behind her)
Kelly: (turns to face Andrea) I’m sorry, really I am. You know I didn’t mean it, right?
Andrea: I think I have to get used to people saying things they don’t mean…it sounded like you meant it. How do I know you don’t?
Kelly: Because I’m telling you I don’t mean it. I would never want you leave. If I say that again, just ignore me, okay?
Andrea: I thought it’s rude to ignore people.
Kelly: You can ignore people who talk bullshit. Like me.
Andrea: Bullshit?
Kelly: When you talk about something that means nothing, that’s bullshit. Or something like that, anyway.
Andrea: (shrugs) Whatever. (looks at Kelly) So you still want me to stay here, with you???
Kelly: Of course I do. (wraps her arms around Andrea) I never want you to leave me. I’ll miss you too much.
Andrea: I’d miss you too.

Scene: Three months later. Kelly, Heidi, and Andrea are in the kitchen. They are staring at a pile of scrawled notes, all written in the same hand as the previous two. Andrea is wearing a pale yellow maternity dress.
Kelly: Why else would he send us all these on the day of his release?
Heidi: To scare us.
Kelly: Is that all you ever think? He’s coming to get us, I can feel it.
Heidi: No he isn’t.
Kelly: How do you know?
Andrea: I’ll sit on him if he comes anywhere near us.
Heidi: You’d squash him.
Andrea: That’s the whole point.
Kelly: I still think those cops are bastards. There not even doing anything. I wanted twenty four hour surveillance, and what did I get? Zero hour surveillance.
Heidi: I don’t know why they do what they do. Cops are very difficult to understand. I guess they’d have to have-
Andrea: (interrupting) Excuse me? (Kelly and Heidi look at her) Is it okay if I go lie down for awhile? I don’t feel too well.
Kelly: (concerned) It’s not coming, is it?
Andrea: (shakes her head) I just have a real bad backache. (she walks out of the kitchen, one hand on her belly)
Heidi: (looks at Kelly) It’s too early for that, isn’t it?
Kelly: She’s not due for another month. I think backache is normal in this stage, though.
Heidi: It must be hard, carrying all that extra weight around. You know, honestly, I don’t think I could do it.
Kelly: I somehow think it’s not as bad as it looks. Think, there’s still giving birth to it. Imagine something like that having to squeeze through a very small space.
Heidi: I couldn’t imagine it.
Kelly: I should go and see how she is.
Heidi: Probably a good idea. (she watches Kelly leave the room, then turns to the counter and starts gathering up the piles of notes)
Cut to upstairs. Kelly walks into Andrea’s room. Andrea is lying on her bed, her hands clasping her belly, her eyes closed.
Kelly: (softly) Andy? (Andrea’s eyes open, and she turns her head to look at Kelly)
Andrea: Hey.
Kelly: (walks over to her bed and sits down beside her) You feel okay?
Andrea: Yeah, I just need to rest for a bit, is all.
Kelly: You’re not having any…pains, are you?
Andrea: )shakes her head. Kelly looks relieved) Nope. Just a backache. It feels better when I’m lying down.
Kelly: (nods) Okay…
Andrea: It pushes. (puts and hand on her chest) Right there. Like all my ribs are outta whack. I dunno if it’s meant to happen, but I suppose it is. It’s a lot better lying down, though.
Kelly: Okay, I’ll let you rest, then. (she gets up) Do you want me to close the door?
Andrea: Um, yeah, thanks.
Kelly: Okay, have a nice sleep then. (Andrea nods) Calls me if you need anything? (Andrea nods again. Kelly walks across the room to the door, and gently closes it behind her)
Cut to downstairs. Heidi is in the living room, watching TV. She looks up when Kelly enters the room.
Heidi: How is she?
Kelly: She’s fine, she just needs to relax a little more.
Heidi: Fair enough. (pats the place beside her) Come sit down. (Kelly smiles, and goes over to Heidi. She sits down beside Heidi, who puts her arm around her) Love you Kel.
Kelly: Love you too, Hi Hi.
Heidi: So. How does it feel to be a grandmother?
Kelly: I’m not a grandmother yet, and you already asked me that question months ago.
Heidi: I just want to see if you’ve changed your mind since then.
Kelly: (thinks) No, I still feel the same as I did before. Only now that I can’t ever…it might be different, not to mention difficult.
Heidi: You still think you might be jealous?
Kelly: If I am, I’ll have to hide it really well. I don’t want to hurt her again.
Heidi: You probably won’t have time to feel jealous. With a gorgeous little baby in the house, who could feel jealous?
Kelly: What do you think it will be? Boy or girl?
Heidi: I don’t know. Do you think Andy knows?
Kelly: I’ve been to every appointment with her, and she’s never asked.
Heidi: She might have some idea…you know, that maternal instinct thing.
Kelly: I don’t think maternal instinct covers knowing the sex of your baby.
Heidi: You never know.
Kelly: I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Heidi: Mmmm. (both are silent a long time. Kelly sighs and looks up at Heidi)
Kelly: I can’t shake the feeling that something is going to happen, though.
Heidi: Kel, how many times have we been through this? Those notes he sent were just to scare us. I know he’s out now, but do you really think he’d do something that would put him back behind bars? Besides, if anything does happen, if we feel even the slightest bit afraid, we can call the cops. They’ll be keeping a close eye on him, anyway.
Kelly: I hope so. I don’t know what it is, I just don’t feel right.

Scene: The next night. Kelly, Heidi, and Andrea are in the living room, watching TV. The clock on the wall says the time is 10.45pm. The movie ends, and the credits roll. Heidi stands up and stretches.
Heidi: Well, I don’t know about you, but that was the shittiest movie I have ever seen. I need a shower to forget how awful it was. (looks at Kelly) See you in bed, Kel?
Kelly: Mmm hmm. (Andrea stands up) Going to bed?
Andrea: Yeah, I don’t feel well.
Heidi: (comes over to Andrea and kisses her forehead) You poor thing…a goodnight’s sleep is what you need.
Andrea: Yeah, I guess. I’ll feel better in the morning. I always do.
Heidi: Okay then, well, I’m off. (she walks over to the stairs and starts up them)
Andrea: (turns to Kelly) Night, mum.
Kelly: (stands up, and kisses Andrea’s cheek) Have a good night. See you in the morning. Yell if you need anything, okay?
Andrea: Mmm hmm. (she starts up the stairs. Kelly picks up the remote from the coffee table, and points at the TV, which turns off. She puts the remote back down, and looks around the room. Satisfied, she walks over to the light switches, and flicks them off. She turns the stair light on. Her face is shrouded in shadows. She begins up the stairs.
Cut to Andrea. She is in her room, pulling back her bedspread, when she suddenly grabs her stomach. She grits her teeth, and is still for a few moments, then relaxes when she feels nothing else, and goes back to making her bed.
Cut back to Kelly. She is in her and Heidi’s room. She has put her blue satin nightgown on. Heidi’s pink one is lying neatly on the end of the bed. The ensuite is right next door. Kelly can hear water running as Heidi has her shower. Kelly is pulling back the bedcovers when the phone rings. She walsk out into the hall and picks it up.
Kelly: Hello? (She hears Marcus’s voice on the other end)
Marcus: Hello, Kelly, I’ve missed you.
Kelly: (panicked, but tries to remain calm) I’m calling the police. (she is about to hang up when Marcus speaks again)
Marcus: Too late for that, baby. (pause) Your living room would look so much better with a little light, don’t you think? (Kelly hangs up the phone and picks it up again. She dials 000, and is about to speak into the receiver when she notices, out of the corner of her eye, the living room light on. She drops the phone, the operater on the other end. She sees Marcus standing on the bottom of the stairs. He starts up them slowly. Kelly screams.

Cut to Andrea. She hears Kelly scream and hurries over to her door. She peers out and sees Marcus.
Andrea: Oh, shit! (yells) Mum! MUM!
Kelly: (shouting) Get in your room and lock the door! Don’t come out, just stay in there! (Andrea slams her door and locks it)
Cut back to Kelly. She is frozen as Marcus walks slowly up the stairs towards her. He stops about ten feet from her. He grins slyly.
Marcus: Long time, no see. Did you miss me as much as I missed you?
Kelly: (looks around wildly. She is panicking) Get away from me, you bastard. (she steps backward) I will kill you, I swear. (she sees the Yellow Pages on the side table with the phone. She grabs both and throws them at him) Heidi! (Marcus raises his hands, and the book doesn’t hit him. He races up the stairs towrd Kelly. Kelly turns and runs down the hall. She keeps yelling) Heidi! Heidi, help me!
Cut to Heidi. She is out of the shower, and putting her robe on. She hears Kelly screaming and races out of the room. She sees Kelly.
Heidi: Oh, **** me! (she races toward them)
Cut back to Kelly. She grabs a picture off the floor and hurls it at him. Glass shatters over him. He puts his hands up to his eyes. Kelly swings her fist at him, and hits him on the side of his face. She kicks him in the shins. He stumbles, and she kicks him in his genital region. He falls down, clutching his family jewels. Kelly runs around him. Heidi throws in one more kick for good measure. They both race down the hall Kelly stops outside Andrea’s door. She pounds on it.
Kelly: (yelling) Andy, open up! Open up right now! (she glances over her shoulder. Marcus is getting up. She turns back to the door and continues banging on it) Andy! (The door opens. Andrea is holding her belly)
Andrea: The baby’s coming.
Heidi: Oh hell. Does it have to come now?
Kelly: (grabs Andrea’s arm and hauls her out of the room and downstairs) You can do that later, right now. We’ve got to get out of here. (glances over her shoulder. Marcus is starting down the stairs after them. She turns back) Hurry… (they reach the living room. All the furniture is against the door, barricading them in) Holy shit! (looks back up the stairs. Marcus is about 20 feet away from them) Oh God Oh God. (screams) Oh ****!
Marcus: I wouldn’t say that, Kelly. (all three look at him. He reaches into a pocket and pulls out a knife. He looks at them) Which one to kill first? (he looks at Kelly) How about you? (takes a step toward them. Kelly and Heidi hurry over to the furniture blocking the door and frantically start trying to move it. They throw anything they can at him. It stops him for only seconds at a time. He walks toward them, a satisfied smirk on his face. Andrea looks at the scene and heads toward the kitchen. She flicks on the lights, and hurries over to the chopping block with knives in, gritting her teeth against the pain. She grabs a butchers knife and starts toward the door. She stops suddenly as a gush of water flows from between her legs)
Andrea: (murmuring) Oh no, not now. You stay in there just a little bit longer, baby. (she hurries out the door into the living room. Kelly hurls a side table at Marcus. He ducks and advances toward them again. Andrea moves toward him with the knife. She stands behind him and raise it but whirls around and knocks it from her grasp. Marcus looks at her)
Marcus: Hello, daughter. (he reaches a hand out toward her)
Kelly: (yells) Don’t you touch my daughter! (she runs up behind him and jumps on him, wrapping her arms around his neck. He throws her off. She falls to the ground. He takes a step toward her and shows her the knife. She looks at it.
Cut to Andrea. She is hurrying up the stairs. She goes into Kelly and Heidi’s room and opens the closet door. She takes a shoebox down from a top shelf. She sets the box down on the bed and opens it. Inside is a gun that Kelly bought months before. She grabs it out of the box and hurries out of the room.
Cut back to downstairs. Marcus raise his knife over Kelly. Kelly struggles to move out of his way. Heidi, who has been frozen for the past minute, comes to life. She races toward them. Marcus’s knife comes down. Kelly squeezes her eyes shut.
Heidi: (racing toward them) I love you, Kel. (she throws herself over Kelly. The knife comes down and lands in her back. She chokes. Marcus pulls the knife out. Heidi shudders, then goes limp. Kelly’s eyes are still shut. She is unconscious. Marcus pushes Heidi off her. Her eyes are closed. He presses the knife to Kelly’s throat. He is about to kill her when there is a gunshot. He drops the knife. A path of red appears on his back and grows bigger. Another shot. This time in his head. He falls forward over Kelly. The wail of police sirens is heard. Andrea sees Heidi, and hurries over to her. She kneels down beside her. She is crying. She caresses Heidi’s cheek)
Andrea: (whispering) I love you, Hi Hi. (she leans over and kisses Heidi’s cheek. She then crawls over to Kelly. She pushes Marcus out of the way and takes Kelly’s hand) I love you too, mum.
Fade out.
Scene: Next day. Hospital. Andrea is sitting up in bed, holding her baby. It is wrapped in a pink blanket. She looks happy, but also sad. Kelly is sitting on a chair beside her. She is staring at the floor. Andrea looks at her.
Andrea: (softly) Mum? (Kelly looks up at her) It’ll be okay, I know it will.
Kelly: Not for awhile.
Andrea: I know, it’ll take a lot of time, but everything will be fine.
Kelly: (looks away) I loved her so much. Why did she do that?
Andrea: Because she loved you.
Kelly: (her eyes fill with tears) I miss her so much. I can’t believe she’s not coming back.
Andrea: I miss her too. (looks at her baby, asleep in her arms) When baby Heidi grows up, we’ll tell her all about her second grandma. Or aunt, whatever she wanted to be.
Kelly: (looks atatled) You called the baby Heidi?
Andrea: Is that okay?
Kelly: (looks unsure for a moment then she nods her head) It’s fine. (looks at Andrea) I love you so much, Andy.
Andrea: (holds out her hand) Love you too. (Kelly gets up and sits beside her. They put and arm around each other and gaze at baby Heidi)
Fade out.
The End.
