I doubt anyone can make any sensible comments about the middle east anymore, RC. It's very very complicated.
As for weapons, well, it's the biggest industry in the world. Gotta keep it going, so starting a war here and there booms our economy. And since our economy is now our highest value in life and politics, it seems quite understandable. Please note the sarcasm here.
