Lost In Translation

A somewhat melancholy dark comedy directed by Sophia Copolla about 2 lonely people in Tokyo. Bill Murray plays a washed up actor doing Japanese commercials, Scarlett Johansson plays the lonely neglected wife of a photographer on assignment in Tokyo.

Its pretty sad but sweet and comforting that these two very lonely people can find each other and some short happiness in a large cold hotel in a strange metropolis a world away from home.

The shots of Tokyo are amazing, you get to really see the hustle and bustle of the city.

Yeah, the acting is first class all around.
Just dont go in expecting any thing big, its a very minimalistic movie, its what doesn't happen that makes the movie memorable.

Just thought I'd bump this, seeing as this movie is at the top of every critic's top ten list and it's received numerous Golden Globe nominations.

I know nominations dont mean much to people seeing as many undeserving movies go on to win, but this year has been different, many smaller movies are receiving recognition, Lost In Translation most deservedly so!

A marvelous movie, one of the best this year.
It's been almost 4 months since I've seen it and yet it still leaves a lasting impression.

If you haven't seen it please do.
I imagine they will be re-releasing it widely after the Golden Globes and as the Oscars approach.

I'd really like to see this movie, Shopia Copolla really surprised me with Virgin Suicide so I'd like to see if this is as good.
But I cant seem to find it on video, it will probably be release in cinema around here.

I've just seen it (It came out yesterday). This is a great and enjoyable movie. The two actors are pretty good. As Tex said, nice shots of Tokyo.
No cheesy moments (phew !).
The characters seem always alone, even and mostly when they are in the middle of a crowd. I like that.

8.75/10
