Okay, I saw the film a while back in theaters, but for some reason haven't come to this thread to discuss it yet. Now I know what you're all thinking - "Oh great, BackFire, he's just going to diss the movie like he did with Reloaded, I hate that guy and his Neo eats my garbage thread".
I think many of you will be pleasantly surprised to learn that I don't hate this movie and I am here to....defend it...kind of. I thought, as a finale, it did everything that could possibly be done to end the film while leaving some things open to interpritation and imagination. Not everything was answered, and that's good. I also thought the movie was better then reloaded, I honestly don't see why it gets such a worse rap then Reloaded does. I think it's alot stronger.
For one thing, it didn't have quite as much as Religious metaphors as Reloaded did, and that's always a plus in my book. Instead of focusing ona picture of Alah in the background of a scene, we can focus on whats actually important, the characters and story. Also, I liked the actions in this movie alot better, it seeme dto flow much better and had a solid surrounding of plot and character development. Unlike the famous freeway scene in Reloaded, which was neat, but was there for no real purpose other then serving up some action. All the action in Revolutions was neccesary for the story.
As a whole, the film had flaws obviously, some crappy lines, and the infamouse lack of chemistry between Neo and Trinity, but you can't blame them. When two characters talk in complete monotone, you can't expect much emotion to be shown.
As far as Neo and Trinity dying, no shocker there really. It needed the chief characters to die in order to make the film somewhat interesting emotionally.
Anywho, the movie is a very decent finale, especially for a series that I thought should have ended after the first one. It left alot open for interpritation and allows for discussion for along time to come.
Well the good thing is that after buying the trilogy on DVD, now we are going to have WB release a 10 DVD copy of the trilogy. With all sorts of extra footage, deleted scenes and more storylines etc.
WB, are just toooooooooooooooo greedy!
