here's my theory, it's not in the book but in the movie, which i believe also alludes to future things to come
remember after lucious malfoy and dobby leave dumbledores office and harry gives dobby the sock and malfoy gets really mad, he raises his wand and hisses something that sounds awfully like the beginning of 'avada kadavra' i could be mistaken, and it wouldn't show up on the subtitles, i know that voldemort is going to have to kill harry, but this opens up another idea, maybe malfoy will try to do it and voldi will get mad and kill him... i don't know though, any thoughts?
and btw, if this has already been said, i'm sorry i'm lazy and didn't want to page through everything

thats a really good thought cuz it did seem like malfoy got a lil pissed off at harry and always dislikes things putting his credibilty down ... (buckbeak , dobby) so mayb harry does somthing to piss him off more which is when he trys to kill him
i also read in a chat with jkr a really long time ago that draco and harry would work together on something, so maybe lucious will do something so horrific that even draco can't stand it anymore and him and harry work together to bring him down, or since old malfoy has connections with voldi, maybe young malfoy could somehow use that to get his dad into trouble, i personally think that draco is the next coming of snape. if you read the chapter in ootf 'snapes worst memory' snape says something to the effect of 'filthy little mudblood' about lily, same exact thing malfoy said in cos, from that i can say that draco will turn good

I think she(jk) meant by this statement to aim us to a principle not a item in CoS...maybe something with the mudblood mother of harry(in CoS it was hermione) and tom half bloodlines....ok maybe not
maybe the basement in malfoy manor or the pipes in the chamber(or the skeletons in the chamber)
we,in book 5 got familier with a new power of harry (to feel his emotions) maybe in book 6 the Parseltongue qill be the main power.
we got the sword...of godric,maybe all hogwarts founders had some items...
jk told us that in the next book we will find more about james saving snape...and more about why DD trust snape(maybe snape will get the DADA job so it may be a clue see the connection!)

Ok. Now it is confirmed by JKR herself that something from Book 2 will play a great role in the end of the series. But she doesnt say that it is "small". Maybe a most prominent thing from 2nd book is going to play a good role in 6th or 7th book.
JUST THOUGHT OF THIS...WHAT IF THE SOMETHING SMALL IN BOOK 2 HAS TO DO WITH VOLDEMORT MENTIONING KILLING LILY AND NOT WANTING TO DOWN IN THE CHAMBER. THIS COULD VERY WELL TIE EVERYTHING TOGETHER............................(THAT I EXPLAIN BELOW)
Maybe it was possible that Tom Riddle is related to Lily & the Evans'. And someone from Lily's family had a kid named Mark Evans!
Also I believe this could be true, even though Dumbledore said that Harry had no other family..........well if Riddle was related to the Evans' Dumbledore soley would have known (possibly) therefore he wouldn't want any harm coming to Harry. (B/C his interpretation of the prophecy is that "harry is the one" that will save everyone in the end)
This leaves us with the fact that Dumbledore would not/could not leave Harry with the Evans' b/c it would have made Harry easily accessible to Lord Voldemort! (Maybe Voldemort's Mother and Lily were sisters) Lily had to have been a relative b/c JK has written that Voldemort hesitated or something.... we know that for some reason he didn't want to kill her. (Probably didn't want to kill Harry either but he was thinking of only himself) Why? Because she was family. OR what if Lily was his sister? A sister-brother bond is closer than a cousin bond....... *thinking now*
That is my theory on the HBP and I firmly believe it is Mark Evans, especially if he is placed in Slytherin. We'll have to read extra carefully when the names are read in Book 6 at the sorting ceremony.
Also Neville & Harry could have gotten mixed up. What if Harry is full blood and Neville is half. I don't remember reading anything solid about it all...............
I think the Mark Evans theory ties into the HUGE thing about Lily that we are supposed to find out. It makes sense that she is related to Voldemort.
OR.......Maybe there is something in the dream that he has in COS about the Riddle's....(pertaining to the something small in book 2)
1. Lily's Big Thing that will get released in Book 6: She's related to Voldemort
2. HBP= Mark Evans (related to Lily somehow)
3. IF someone does switch houses = Mark Evans switching from Slytherin to Gryffindor in order to get closer to Harry (keep your friends close, but enemies closer)
OR he might request to get moved to Slytherin, from Gryffindor to plot against Harry and carry out bad deeds for Voldemort
4. Something Small in Book 2 = Something Big in Book 6: The fact that Voldemort mentioned not wanting to kill Lily.
It was only a few words in the whole book, but it seems to tie in with #1-3 (that I listed above) pretty well.

voldy and lily could be related somehow....that could be why he idn't wanted to kill her..
and mark and lily could be related too, but as distant realatives, so that harry can't live with them, cause they are too distant!
and the switching house thing, maybe it'll be draco! (i posted this already rsomewere i think) but what if his father gets killed by voldy, or something like that, then draco wouldn't want to have anything to do with voldy (and slytherin) so he goes to gryffindor
could be, but he is also a true gryffindor, and maybe even his heir cause he pulled out the sword! maybe he is griffondors heir, from fathers side! (what if he is related to hufflepuf and ravenclaw too, then the houses are united! , sorry, maybe a weird theorie, but it could be!! )
but voldemort went to school 50 years ago, so he can't be lilys brother, he is to old!! but maybe his mother and lilys grandma were sisters or something.... then they would be realated!
and i still think harry has to be closely related to the people with who he lives!
and i don't think the name of mark evans is a coincidence, there are non in harry potter books!! (i think) things always happen for a reason!!
