You know damn well that if they made a fourth one the story would be as irrelevant and rehashed as T3.
The T1200 would come after John Conner 2 years later and try to kill him, but the twist is the terminatrix comes back to protect him this time. same with T5, T6, ect.
The series should have ended with T2, it had a better sence of closure then T3 did, and the ending was far supperior and much more emotional in T2.
As I said before, T3 was completely unnecessary, it added nothing to the story.
Well Tex, you know Kristiana Loken, the terminatrix, is of Norwegian descendt right? One of the parents is Norwegian or something. So hah! Everything good in the movie hails from norway.
T3 is the studio getting all the money they can out of the franchise and destroying its legacy in the process. it felt like i was watching a spoof of the first two - it was so bad.
because it wasnt directed by james cameron it was always going to be weaker than the other two (he invented the whole concept).
having no linda hamilton or ed furlong meant it was hard to relate it to the previous films, plus the guy who played conner looked like a monkey.
the script was poor, the effects (like the time travel arrival) looked over the top and cr*p, the female terminator was a cynical gimmick.
for me the terminator series starts at T1 and ends at T2.
I have posted this review on a number of sights and have gotten many positive reactions. All spoilers will be blacked out. Don't blame me if my review looks like a freakin' X-File document. Well, you can blame me, but keep the sarcastism's to a minimum.
This review contains major plot spoilers
Arnold’s back and kissing some major sweet, sexy butt, in the form of T-X.
Before seeing this movie, my expectations were not very high, because I didn’t believe that a woman could play the Terminator role as well as a man could. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Robert Patrick took on the roles as T-800 & T-1000 in the first two Terminator movies and played them with amicable fortitude. However, after seeing Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, I have to say, I’m ashamed of my ignorance. Hooray for Woman’s Lib. Kristanna Loken carried the role as T-X - and worked it beautifully. This was a sweet ass movie, and well worth the wait, too. After 12 years of waiting for a Terminator sequel to T2, this third installment to the Terminator franchise is the best and far surpassed my expectations.
Is the future written in stone? Are we destined to travel the road not yet seen? Is our future already pre-destined to bite us in the ass? John Connor (Nick Stahl) seems to think so. And has been preparing for “Judgement Day” for years. After the destruction of Cyberdime Labs and allegedly altering the timeline to save the future by destroying the last of the Terminator technology, (events that take place in T2), the future was suppose to be saved, but as the T-101, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, (a role he made famous in 1984 with the first Terminator movie), says to John as they flee from T-X, “Judgment Day is enviable.” And it was only postponed. So, the events in T1 & T2 were for naught. And the future rise of the machines is shown enviable by the appearance of yet another Terminator - or rather a Terminatrix - played by Kristanna Loken. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: She’s sent into the past, and this time is assigned a new mission. Instead of killing John Connor, like the other two Terminators tried to do but failed, she is sent back to eliminate his lieutenants, who will be a major threat in the future timeline. However, as the Terminatrix is on a mission to kill Kate Brewster, played by Claire Danes, she discovers the whereabouts of the resistance leader, John Connor, now in his 20‘s. She alters her programming and goes after John Connor, but a T-101 turns up (Arnold) - an obsolete Terminator model, who was reprogrammed in the future to protect John Connor and Kate Brewster, from being killed in the past - and does battle with T-X.. Damn! Some of the scenes with the two of them battling are simply mind-blowing!
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: One scene I found particularly impressive was Arnold vs. the Terminatrix and the hydraulic crane vehicle. It was a scene that wasn’t supposed to be made, according to director Jonathan Mostow in a TV interview, because it would be too expensive. But Arnold wanted it in, so he paid for it himself. And I’m glad Arnold had the clout to pay for it, because it’s one of best scenes - if not the best - in the entire movie. It was total destruction. I loved it!
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: It’s here, in this movie, that we finally learn what Sky Net really is. In the previous two Terminator movies, we’re only told small details of what Sky Net is and how it sent killers into the past to alter the future. Now we learn the truth and it‘s main function. Sky Net is an Artificial Intelligence software program designed with military strategic adaptive abilities and mega super intelligence build by a secret military group. Its sole purpose is to run the world’s technology if something unfortunate was to happen as a safeguard. And when the world’s communications start to go a-rye, Sky Net is reluctantly activated to fix the problem. And when Sky Net comes on-line, it is learned that the massive computer virus that has been affecting communications all around the world was implemented by Sky Net to begin “Judgment Day.”
Giving rise to the machines.
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: But one thing puzzles me about seeing all those war machines in storage. Now, what was the military preparing for? Were they expecting a war? Or was this Sky Net’s influence? This is the only thing I didn’t understand. It’s was never explained.
As I said before, Kristanna Loken plays the newest Terminator - the T-X or Terminatrix - and she plays it like a sexy super model with a woman‘s scorn. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: When she first arrives in the past via a time bubble thingy, she arrives naked, like all Terminator’s do. At first, it was too dark to see anything of her nakedness, but in the scene where she walks across the street and kills a woman wearing what would eventually be her tanned leather cat suit, her true talent shows. Ha ha! But I’m not kidding; Christian Lokken was hot in the movie and plays perfectly opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, the T-101.
If you’ve seen any funny man/straight man comedy routines, you’d find that Arnold is the straight man in this movie. With so many one-liners and how he conducts himself, his mannerisms give poise for humour. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: For example, when he once again enters a bar to get what would eventually be his leather jacket and clothes after arriving into the past total naked, he walks into a strip bar on Ladies Night and demands that the stripper on stage give him his clothes. The stripper refuses, and Arnold takes then. The ladies go wild. Then when Arnold leaves the bar, the anticipated putting-on-the-glasses scene arrives. But this time, to add humour and unpredictably to the scene, the director must have thought it would be funny if Arnold sported a pair of Elton John star sparkle glasses instead. The audience roared with laughter at that. And so did I. Obviously the T-101 thought they were inappropriate and trashed them. Also, an interesting fact is, despite 12 years have past since T2, Arnold still looks the same as he did back them. Still buff, and bulky. Which is surprising, because 12 years is a long time between movies, and people get older. I guess the great ones never age.
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: We also learn that Sarah Connor, John’s mother, has died, following a bout with leukemia, a form of deadly cancer. This was a shock to me, because I was expecting to see Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) in the movie. However, I guess with the storyline, she wasn’t needed. It seems without the attitude of Linda Hamilton, who fit the part of John Connor’s mother in T1 & T2, they needed a new heroine, so in a something that John Connor says, “You remind me of my mother,” to Kate Brewster, after she blasts the hell out of a mini-flying-jet-thingy while trying to escape Sky Net‘s aggressive attacks in the military stronghold, you get the inclination that she’s Linda Hamilton’s replacement. And who better to be in the roll than her. Claire Danes was great. And yet, you get the feeling that she does kind of get thrown into the roll. Perhaps Linda Hamilton didn’t want to come back to reprise her role as John’s mother? Or maybe she was no longer needed? Whatever the reason, I thought Claire Danes was perfect for the part.
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: And yet another chapter in the Terminator unfolds as we learn that it is Kate that reprogrammed the T-101 to protect John Connor and her in the past. Why? Because she is apparently John’s wife in the future and their kids are very important. Is this a hint to T4?
[SPOILER - highlight to read]: One last thing, and this is scary. In the scene where Arnold fights a war machine in the military stronghold…that’s an actual robot. No special effects were used to create it. Now, if we have the technology to create such things, remote controlled or not, how far off is “Judgement Day” for us? Just an observation.
I thought perhaps because James Cameron didn’t direct this movie, it wouldn’t be as good as T1 or T2, but it just goes to show that with new talent, comes fresh ideas. James Cameron helped write the script, but it’s ultimately the director who choreographs the film. And Jonathan Mostow did an superb job! This movie is a must see for everyone.
are you people even watching the same film?! T3 is a disgrace to the terminator name. how you can say "This movie is a must see for everyone" i will never know.
T3 is the studio getting all the money they can out of the franchise and destroying its legacy in the process. it felt like i was watching a spoof of the first two - it was so bad.

As far as those Skynet terminator models, those were just probably battle droid prototypes that the military was developing, like the little flying planes, I dont think Skynet had any part in developing them.
But once Skynet takes over I'm sure it then takes those protoypes and of course inproves them over time to come up with 'Terminators'.
Damn dude all your reviews are HUGE
Thats very "male" of you! I thought and still think nobody can do a better job than Robert Patrick. Whether its man or woman.
