I saw this one episode of X-Men in the 90's, the one where Cyclops gets stranded in a desert and loses his mutant powers, and finds a community of mutants who hate him because they think he's a normal human. There was this plant woman who kicked Toad's ass in that episode, the way you described.
The Disease guy sounds like an older obscure Beta Flight character. Can't remember his name, but he had thousands of bacteria and diseases in his body. He could just spit on people, and they'd whither up, festering with disease, and die.
Rose sounds a bit like Plant Man.
Not saying either of you is copying, I'm just citing instances where variances on your ideas have been used, with good results.
I had one awhile ago, he/she could control his/her blood, ala Gypsy Moth/Skein with fabrics. Thus he could prick himself, and draw enough blood (his body would make it in ample enough amounts where he could draw pints at a time) to make wings, or claws.
Then I thought that sounded boring, so I meshed in some Emma Frost and Charcoal into it. At first I was just going to have his blood be regular, then I decided on some organic liquid diamond stuff, much like a liquid version of Emma's armor. Then I thought it would be better for his blood to be a transient liquid carbon state. It can be softer black coal, which he can use for pyrokinetic effects, or a liquid diamond state as well, which he can harden for claws, weapons, or a great way to make money easily, just chip some diamonds off and sell them!
I think it's hard to come up with a power that hasn't been used already. I'd have an all-elemental mutant (very powerful) that controls weather, water, fire (including magma), and earth. How kickin would that mutant be? I'd have to make it a man because the women are already incredibly powerful. Give the guys some better powers. Let's give him the name Element X. I don't know what else to call him.

Background: not much is known about Spark. Nickname suggests swedish decent..nothing for certain is know about him or how he knows Gambit and his fight with Sabertooth in Paris. his similar powers (and costume preference) to Gambit suggest that they could be related.
