My favorite bands are so old, but I grew up listening to Steely Dan, The Band, The Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull, and The Doobie Brothers. Currently, I'm listening to Jethro Tull's "Living In The Past" on Napsterlinks.

You can listen to the song by clicking on the link above, and entering your email address. As long as you're logged in, you can hear the full length song, instead of a 30-second clip. It's pretty cool.
Red Hot Chilie Peppers (not really "rock")
Tool (again, not really "rock")
Foo Fighters
Deftones
Rage Against the Machine
Radiohead
Pearl Jam
Nine Inch Nails
Tool class themselves as hard rock, everyone else tries to lumber them with the label of progressive metal.
I think they've got much more in common with rock than metal, they have a few metal moments here and there but mostly I'd class them as a hard rock band, so would they.
Hinder, Drowning Pool, Buckcherry, Lostprophets, American Hi-Fi, smile empty soul, 3 Doors Down, Breaking Benjamin, Armor for Sleep, Hawk Nelson, Crossfade, Papa Roach, Thousand Foot Krutch, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Never Heard Of It, Theory of a Dead Man, Tonic, Nirvana, Default, Metallica, Mudvayne, Staind, Godsmack, Bon Jovi, All Time Low, Story Of The Year, Thrice, Relient K, TRAPT, Army of Freshmen, PUDDLE OF MUDD, Eighteen Visions, and LUCKY BOYS CONFUSION!!!!
