hey i know there are lots of other threads on him in the past but i think this matter about him deserves another one - new one!
i read book 5 again & found more clues that he's coming back! dont know why i never saw them b4! they're mostly on the last part of the book during Harry's chat with Luna & Nearly Headless Nick.
I dont have the book with me now but the clues were laid out as something like these:
1) Talking to Harry about her mother who passed away when she was 9yrs old, Luna says:
"ITS NOT LIKE I WONT SEE HER AGAIN RIGHT? Oh come on Harry, you heard them too didnt you? the voices behind the archway! they're keeping themselves from being seen, but they're just there.. behind the veil."
2) Luna was looking for her things - which she lost - were hidden away from her by the other students - she says:
"i'll just wait for them to turn up again. eventually they always do in the end. its just that i wanted to pack tonight."
I take this as a clue to Sirius' return bcoz he was a topic in this same conversation - and Harry LOST HIM - so maybe he's not really gone but was just hidden away from him by "some others" & he'll turn up eventually in the end - but Harry must be patient - wait for it.
3) Nearly Headless Nick says:
"I dont understand the mysteries of death too bcoz I chose a different path. but there is a room at the Department of Mysteries where the great wizards study it.."
he's referring to that "veil room" which Dumbledore (talking to Fudge) referred to as the "Chamber of Death"- where Sirius disappeared.
and the prof hes comeing back is where..lol im sorry but i believe he is gone forever......and if harrys ever gonna talk to him again its through that mirror
Furthermore.. let's unravel the mysteries of the Department of Mysteries..
There were around a dozen doors that Harry & friends saw, only 5 of which they encountered - these seem to represent LIFE'S GREATEST MYSTERIES.
The 1st door -- is the one where they came in & out of.
The 2nd door -- had the floating "brains" - seems to me that this would refer to "How the Human Mind Works" - which is a mystery.
The 3rd door -- had the archway with the veil - its the "veil room" where the battle among the members of the Order & the Death Eaters took place - where Sirius disappeared - and which Dumbledore later referred to as "the Chamber of Death" - Death again is one of life's mysteries.
The 4th door -- could not be opened! -- this might be the room Dumbledore is referring to when he told Harry "there is a room at the Department of Mysteries which is locked at all times, which contains a force greater than.. blah blah blah -I'll just come back later to articulate it- This could be the room of the greatest mystery of all - Love!
The 5th door -- contained the prophecies, time-turners (hourglasses), planets - it probably refers to - destiny or time or past/present/future - the Chamber of Time & Space - another mystery.
if you're referring to clue #3 - the Nearly Headless Nick clue--
it means that if that ghost said he thinks that Sirius is not coming back - well, you might as well ignore it! he doesnt know what he's talking about bcoz - HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE MYSTERIES OF DEATH - as he said!
well, i'm willing to bet on this -- but it might not happen til book 7.

i dont see where the proof is, sirius is dead, hes not comeing back, if he could get out of the veil, wouldnt he have done it straight away seeing as his godson was in a room with death eaters wanting to kill him

yeah, the rooms... ya thoght good, i think the brains stand for intelligence....
planets is room/universe, the clock room present, the propheerrcy room future, the one with the veil death, the one they came.... a normal room or probably past... dunno why....
and the ever locked room... life/love, i would probably say mothers love, something tom marvolo riddle never felt....

i don't think sirius will be back (this is by the way the hardest thing to say for me...)
well, he has no point being alive at the moment, cuz he is searched as a mass murderer from the misistry. he has just no use and that would torture him! now, he's with his best friend again and i hope he is happy ther, if that's possible!
I'm not sure what will happen....you all have good points, I just hope sirius comes back (I cryed when he died). but what ever J.K. Rowling decides to write, I'm sure the story will turn out great

yeah, =), although i didn't feel so much for harry, than for me , but it was real pleasure dor me to sdee hary destroying dumbledores office, cuz i guess, thats what i've done...
guys, when I said that Sirius will be back, it is NOT necessarily as he was b4! he may be a ghost or one of those paintings or whatever comes up in JKR's imagination - but the point is he's gonna be back according to clues embedded in Harry's chat with Luna & Nearly Headless Nick!
remember that only Luna heard the voices behind the veil aside from Harry, the same way that only the 2 of them sees thestrals. remember also that in book 2 or 3 or 4, a clue was implanted about these thestrals - the one where Harry was thinking & wondering what made those wagons - the ones that took students from the Hogwarts Express train to the castle - move! which was answered only in book 5 with the introduction of Luna's character.
this could be it too, since Harry "hurled the mirror into his trunk where it shattered" - meaning the broken pieces of the 2-way mirror are still at the bottom of his trunk - he didnt throw it away! all he needs to do is say "REPARO!" to put it back together!

i would like to believe Sirius can and will come back. i cried when he died. he shouldn't have died. i think a part of me is still mourning. but there's not much proof that he will.
then again, we must remember that this is Harry Potter we're talking about. they have dragons and witchcraft and veils that have dead people behind them. so, you never know... in fantasy worlds, anything can happen.
the only way Sirius will be able to come back is if he's not really dead. something i doubt immensely, 'cause there are dead people behind the veil. apparently you die when you simply go through it. and we all know he went through it.
but maybe he'll find a way to get out of the veil and go back? but then, if he does will he still be dead or a ghost or will he be alive?
i really pitied Harry in the book. his 5th year was horrid!! but i am an angst fan, and i like it when my fave characters are hurt physically or mentally. and Harry is my fave character. but Order of the Phoenix tortured him a bit too much, methink.
still, it'll be cool to see on screen!! if Daniel Radcliffe is Harry again for the 5th, i would love to see how well he can play Harry's emotional trauma throughout the movie.
