for Sirius to come back as a painting someone has to actually paint him.

and if he's painted how do we know he'll be "alive", in the sense he can talk and walk through other portraits? and will the painting of Sirius have Sirius' personality?

how does that work anyway? i don't think you just paint someone and they come to life. there has to be a spell or something.

i have nothing against Sirius coming back, but how will he come back? what form will he be in? what will he do? will he be dead or alive?

*sigh* wishful thinking...

there would be paintings already, I would assume. Berhaps at Grimmauld Place, they have been banished to the loft or something

OK then, how about the clue in book 3?

Remember when Harry's patronus drove away about a hundred dementors - he told Dumbledore he thought he saw his father James as the one who produced it, but realized it was him, using the time-turner - Dumbledore said this..

"You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don't recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you, Harry, and shows himself most plainly when you have need of him. How else could you produce that particular Patronus? Prongs rode again last night."

Surely, one way or another, Sirius will show himself again to Harry in his time of great need!

Face it people....our man Sirius is comming back in some shape or form of another.....and the points u make also and up to that theory.

I think some of you are reading too much into the talk at the end. The bit with Luna I mean, I think thats just calculated to make people feel sorry for her. And Harry, so he makes people nicer to her next year, and she becomes one of his allies.

I don't think JK would really make a person such as sirius disapear like that, but harry was kinda stupid too, if there was time-turners in one of the rooms, why didn't he used it to turn back time and save sirius? (Any explanation will do)

the time-turner is not a thing you can just use, its a very dangerous tool - Harry knows this - Dumbledore & Hermione stressed this on him in book 3! it is something that must be used responsibly.

if Harry used the time-turner, Harry-past will see Harry-future - anything goes after that & the result could go catastrophic.

No, cos he would realise wouldn't he. He could just appear at the door, kill Bellatrix or stun, whatever, and go away befre anyone sees.

i don't remember where in book 5 it said, maybe christmas. but when harry had talked to Sirius he "walked away, leaving harry standing alone in the dark" I only realized this when i read the book for the second time, but if you are going to interpret the book literally, this is important. personally, i wish Harry hadn't used Umbridge's fire but the mirror. Wouldn't it be great if he could just throw Sirius's into the veil after him... kind of stupid, but I keep thinking about it. And the paintings: the person has to be painted when they are still alive. I hope his mother didn't burn portraits with Sirius on them...

Wow, you guys have got a lot of good points. I think its possible that Sirius could come back *crosses fingers* I mean, the way he died was so weird...so...magical. It wasn't like he got zapped by avada kedavra...he just fell behind a veil...so in my opinion JKR is leaving her options open. They didn't have to carry Sirius's dead body away, he wasn't mutilated or mangled, he just, fell....so basically anything could happen!

Wow...you guys are good! I discussed a lot in another thread "Is Sirius really dead"about this topic and I heard the most theories about 1000 times, but the hints in Luna's conversation with Harry and also Sirius leaving Harry alone in the dark have I never heard before...even it points directly in the other direction :-(( Even if I believe Sirius will come back I noticed another hint for him being dead: When Harry entered Grimmauld place for the first time (without knowing it was Sirius's house) he felt like he was entering "the house of a dying person".

There's no doubt that we'll hear more about Sirius (pensieve, another real dream of Harry...ect.) but the question is if Sirius will be able to come back as a real man, and not like a ghost or portrait or something.

And would you really want to have cool tough Sirius back if he would re-appear as a stupid talking picture of him on the wall arguing with the Fat Lady and the knight and his pony?! I wouldn't!! That wouldn't be him!

your totally right about it not being right for sirius to be in a picture.....almost seems like a waste of time! But, i've still got some hope that he could come back....i suppose time will tell!
