that's the only other option really, it would be probably the only thing that would make sasuke stfu about the uchiha, that or actually dying.

No. As a necessity, opening the gates is an internal thing. The chakra amp is just that: an amp in chakra. If he opens the gate, he still dies.
What the chakra amp would do, however, is give Gai that 8th gate level of power without having to opening. Just throwing it out there but I think a 4th gate with Naruto's chakra amp would be the equivalent of the 8th gate.

Most other ninja would have to resort to teamwork, sealing, weakness exploitation, or controlling the Bijuu in order to actually stop them, whereas A's dad went toe-to-toe with Gyuuki.
