i dont know if ballsy is the right word for blair witch. i mean, theres many horror movies that are not the normal teen slasher that come out every year, they just dont make it big. and its not the greatest horror film of all time. i can think of 5 right off hand that are much more "ballsy" and creative.

cannibal holocaust (obvious inspiration for blair witch in many many ways, and much more daring)

texas chainsaw massacre (created the slasher sub genre in horror, paved the way for about 70% of the horror films that came out after it)

night of the living dead (duh)

henry - portrait of a serial killer (another movie i think you would like tommaco, if you liked how blair witch relied on what wasnt shown to be scary, then you'll like this, as it does the same thing and doesnt show much, but makes you rely on your imagination most of the time)

last house on the left (the first ever exploitation film and the first movie to deal with explicit scenes of rape and murder in an exploitation fassion, wes cravens first, and best movie)
